yeah I don't think Boston is getting past Florida without some kind of Tonya Harding incident

I think my Final Four prediction at the moment would be Rangers-Panthers + Oilers-Stars. And I would think:

Rangers beat Stars
Oilers beat Rangers
Oilers beat Panthers
no idea on Panthers vs Stars. every time I type something, I think "well...?"

I think if Boston had made it past the first round last year, they would have had a good shot. Not sure they would have beat Vegas, but I don't know if I see them in the same class this year as the really top (IMO) teams.

I agree with Oilers beating the Rangers but I'm not so sure about Oilers being favoured over the Panthers. They dummied the Oilers in both games this year.

I also agree that Boston would be the underdog this time around, but they also went 4-0-0 against Florida in the regular season, outscoring them 13-8. They definitely have an axe to grind against the Panthers, and obviously the playoffs are not the regular season, but if that's the matchup I expect it'd be closer than people think it would.

by 2028 they should be able to Eliminate the Kings in one game.

Dallas eliminated Edmonton 4 years in a row around the turn of the century and i still kind of hate them for it. I'm sure Kings fans are going to hold onto this for a while.

I could see Boston going deep and maybe pulling the whole thing out of their rear end ala St. Louis if Swayman keeps playing at Conn Smythe level, as horrible as that would be. Why must McAvoy be a Bruin, what a perfect d-man.

In 97 we lost game seven at home in overtime to the oilers, and we have never forgotten it.

Also for some reason thought the blackhawks hadn't won 3 cups in the last 15 years, but thought the Bolts had, and I was wrong on both lol

Edit: oh, Maroon won with the Blues then traded to TB and won two more, not three with TB, maybe that was
confusing me

Lest we forget that they were punished with a fine of a few million bucks and pretty much the entire front office resigned (and coach Q in Florida, who coached Chicago at the time) but they were still allowed to draft Bedard first overall this year. But Arizona was forced to relinquish a first and second round pick because they let some prospects work out at their practice facility before the draft combine. The League should have gone way harder on Chicago and forced them to give up multiple first rounders imo.

Aphrodite
Jun 27, 2006

With the timing of the judgement, if they had been forced to give up their first it actually would have been last season and they still would have had the Bedard pick.

They would indeed have had to take away multiple firsts and lol

Are the Oilers stars actually good in the playoffs or do their stats just look great from shitpumping the Kings in the 1st round every year?

They score against everybody, but their lack of defense and goaltending becomes a real problem against better teams than the Kings

The Canucks beat the poo poo out of them all year so if we can get past the brick wall Preds we should be okay?? Playoffs different and all that of course.

That's missing April where the Nucks beat em 3-1.

Which 3rd string goalie were the Canucks using for those games?

Darude - Adam Sandstorm
Aug 16, 2012

Desmith was the reason the Canucks won the game in April he was great in that game.

The other 3 games don't count since they're pre Kris Knoblauch which was the preseason. The NHL has already adjusted the record books to reflect that. Thank you

Honestly? I hope Oilers go all the way if the Nucks lose - that's a loving story. Shitass coach gets fired and your team roars back as one of the loving best all year.

One of those games they did actually have to swap out Demko for DeSmith because he was sick.

We have the capability to make San Jose's first Cup Champion.

The Sharks could be that Champion.

Their stars accounted for 15 of the teams 22 goals, but the overall stat lines against the Kings are kinda concerning. Fully 1/3 of Edmonton's goals came on the PP, and if you look at just the stars that number jumps closer to 2/3s. Series could have looked much different if the Kings had been able to stay out of the box. Trending for a second round exit at this rate.

I still think Woodcroft is a good coach, McDavid and Ekholm being injured + goaltending were big problems. But the defense is markedly better from last year cause Paul Coffey has them all vibin'.

Not to take too much away from the Oilers who are obviously clicking, but imo a big part of the difference in this series vs. the last is that the Kings actively made themselves worse in the offseason, was pretty apparent whenever they pushed back they didnt have the same depth of talent
