You’re going to read and hear a lot about officiating and special teams play, but to my eye, this series really came down to the fact that the Kings are weak and stupid and cowardly while the Oilers are clever, strong and brave.

Also the penalty on PLD was... iffy? He knocked down the guy with the puck. I dunno. The handshake line may have been respectful, but right after the game Arvidsson was delivering some pretty powerful fuckyous to someone.

It looked ridiculous and I’m very okay with the Embellishment call there. Definitely a hook, but the guy didn’t lift him up off the ice. If I were the Kings I’d be more upset that we played mediocre hockey and that PLD looks like a 3rd line plug.

I don't have a pony in that race but as an impartial observer it felt like the Kings got pretty hosed.  maybe it makes up for mcdavid eating like 2 ghost penalties a game that usually aren't called

The Oilers were the better team in 4/5 games. The Kings outplayed them in game 4 and that was it, but they don't have actual guys that can finish. The other games weren't really close and it would have been a sweep if Skinner wasn't awful in game 2.

If you're going to call the dive, why call the initial penalty at all? They just cancel out. Diving should be punished with a fine, anyway. Calling a 'dive' on a team facing elimination that could have gone on a 5-on-3 powerplay in a tied game is absolute horseshit. Plus it wasn't a dive.
