I watched a video on that and it actually was in development too far to change course when Mario 64 released and the entire dev team was like '...gently caress.'

I actually liked Bubsy after playing Mario and Sonic to death mostly for the charm, all those games do have effort put in, just misplaced a lot of the time. A platform mascot subject to cartoonish slapstick works really well. And he has lots of different death animations!

There's an entire subgenre (subculture?) of people writing scripts for The Campaign Trail to cover all sorts of elections, from 1860 to 1960 and beyond. It's essentially a cross between Paradox games and interactive fanfiction for poll-brained pundits.

It's pretty decent so far.

-Stats are stripped back so single digit increases mean a lot

-Weapon is limited to one that you upgrade, more like Hollow Knight. If you prefer doing the big whackin hammer you can get a skill after about 3 hours that lets you turn your weapon into a smasher. Gear is more focused on replacing your shell on a regular basis; this changes your dodge speed, block hp, and magic spell, so you wind up playing slightly differently depending on where you are

-Boss fights are more... not really gimmicky, but each is something you can either brute force or puzzle through using the items in the boss arena to make it easier, since using the magic powers of each of your shells is more important

-controls are a bit floaty (well, you are underwater, but still) and there's more of an emphasis on platforming. Have had enemies clip into terrain and some weird jank with hitboxes, it's not really a precise game

-Lots of NPCs and a lot of HOW ABOUT THAT CAPITALISM HUH dialogue, and the actual plot is pretty dark and miserable but everyone is dumb as poo poo and has no idea what's going on so it feels a bit like dark souls hollowing / zombie apocalypse is happening to an oblivious cast of cartoon fish

-Fair bit of exploration and decent level design, though the assets and textures are pretty limited and 90% of your enemies are the same crab but with different hats/weapons

-I like da music

I think it's fairly short, it's on GP so I'm glad I didn't pay (extra) for it, but it's working pretty well as a palate cleanser from Eiyuden's loving horrible minigames.

I'm honestly surprised more didnt die, but at least since there was no point in capturing aliens they got real guns and got to do some killing for once

OpenXcom is truly a delight, tons of great mods including this one I just played, The Final Modpack, which is essentially just vanilla but harder and expanded.

My childhood memories are confirmed, one of the greatest games of all time. Play it!

Thinking of jumping right in to Terror from the Deep, which I've never played at all and I see it has it's own modding scene including a vanilla+ which I may opt for...

If I can fault Todd for anything it is in giving gamers too much credit and thinking they were ready for a mind blowing, galaxy-spanning adventure, political intrigue, riveting gameplay, and unlimited possibility.

I said it when it released, but Todd has been failed by the gamers. There was a whole wondrous universe to explore in your own customizable spaceship but they just wanted to stagnate in their gaming caves, hiding from the light that Todd brings.

The way I won:

- Act real presidential, so the democratic leadership start rehabilitating me while I'm still in power
- Send the UN into Pakistan to show why the UN can't be trusted with anything
- Ask the CIA to produce wilder claims about Saddam, but don't present those claims yourself
- Hold rallies for true patriots who hate terrorists
- Get the Democrats to denounce the left-wing crazies who harass me on my ranch
- Easily convince the serious people in Washington to vote for the Iraq War
- Call out Gore for being a flip-flopper who voted for the original war but not the one to finish Saddam

No 9/11, but history is mostly back on track. Even better, they can dust off the 9/11 plans for Trump.

Has anyone made a FO3 mod where the Gary vault has all the Garys changed to Todds, and they all just say "Todd!" using different clips of Todd Todding from various interTodds? Then the player could joyfully Todd their way through the Todd vault with a Toddthrower, Todding all the Todds for an ultimate Toddtharsis.
