They're really obsessed with those PA Haley votes. Been seeing that everywhere. Weren't most of them mail-ins? Because I'm sure that taking 1 minute to flip Trump the bird is a sure predictor that they're lost to the Republicans forever. The 7% that voted for Dean Phillips meanwhile...

Wait, I didn't see the write-ins reported when it happened. Biden had 12% protest votes. They're crowing over a +5% suddenly.

I've been an avid bike rider for over 40yrs, THAT monstrosity is NOT a bike lock. Looks more like a tow chain, or frame (autobody) pulling chain.

quote:

No. Links the size of a fist are not standard bike chain locks.

quote:

Carrying an extra 10-15 pounds on a bike ride is highly unlikely. The chain links are obviously so big that they will not fit through most spokes, and so heavy that you need to take care not to lock to a part of your bike that might be damaged by supporting the lock's weight.

quote:

I'm sure the company that sells that as a bike chain - has photos to get an idiot to buy it

I'm also sure most people who try it - don't use it.

There are lighter, cheaper and more effective / practical bike locks.

I think the effort is worth recognizing even with the current outcome, they have spent more time on this and accomplished more than students at many other schools. a lot of the protests will result in less than this. it *could* end up having a net negative effect if it inspires the widespread application of this type of resolution in cases where a better outcome could be accomplished by sticking to it, but I think that remains to be seen at least for a little while. maybe I am naive but they have done more than I have so idk. they could take up the banner again in any case.

1. Biden is most likely facing an enthusiasm problem, which is why he's going to win by 7 points instead of 10 like he should against Trump.

2. "In the real world," Republicans have arguably lost every single election since Trump's election except for 2021, and Trump is an election LOSER.

3. Most House Democrats are in lock-step with Biden on Gaza, the economy, etc. etc. etc., and yet they keep mopping the Republicans.

4. Biden may have the lowest average job approval on record, but Trump also has the most indictments on record, and is the only indicted former President on record. So, either Biden wins or Trump wins, and someone is going to set a new record here, and it's up to you what you think is more likely. Personally, I think that the quadruple-indicted loser who lost every election since 2017 is going to lose to the guy with bad approval numbers.

5. Republicans are begging for money while being bled dry by Trump's trials. Trump will get buried come November.

6. Some of these polls, like the NYT poll from a month or so ago, showed Trump tying Biden with women. Post Dobbs. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that there's an issue here.

Look, when I saw Abigail Spanberger keep her House seat in 2022 after her election was called early, I knew that the Republicans were toast that night. Biden got more votes than Trump in the PA primary, as did Democrats any way you slice it in an uncontested election with an incumbent President, and Haley got 17% after she dropped out a month prior. Trump is toast, toast, toast.

Trump is loving toast.

Incredibly surprising that one year after a Chinese ballon caused mass psychogenic panic in a country, and after nearly 2 years bitching about magical Russian sonic weapons, the same country also goes apeshit over the kids complaining about the US complicity in a genocide.

Sorry to hear that, it's straight bullshit. My Spectrum bill would be increasing from $50 for 300 Mbps to $80 per month, which is insane. Ultimately, I ended up calling to cancel the other day, telling them I'm in the middle of the T-Mobile 5G home Internet trial for a flat $50/m and was seeing speeds up to 750 Mbps (true, by the way). They ended up bumping me up to 500 Mbps for $50 per month for a year, and advised me to do the same thing again at that time, lol. To be honest, it went better than I expected, but I'm still upset because millions aren't as lucky, especially if they don't have any ISP competition in their service area.

In my state Spectrum's handing out a year of unlimited mobile service to make up for it.
