AIO after my best friend told me I don't have a "real" job?quote:I (24F) have a degree in Early Childhood Education. Some examples of jobs you can have with this degree are preschool teacher, kindergarten teacher, nanny, childcare/daycare worker, and special education teacher. I love kids and I love getting to make an impact on their lives, which is why I chose to get the degree that I did. But as most people know, at least in the US, teachers are very underpaid. And daycare workers are paid even less than that. The fact that the friend works in HR which in many cases is just corporate babysitting is the :chefkiss:

If one of my friends told me they were being paid [$Lots] to nanny, I would be thrilled for them. What the hell kind of person hears that and goes "you don't deserve that"?! vv maybe that's it... AITA for taking a photo in someone’s house quote:My boyfriend and I have been dating for a few months. He invited me to a game night with 6 of his friends, which was my first time meeting any of them. I’m not a very social person so I was nervous, but also excited to meet his friends. When we pulled up to the host’s house, I was immediately overcome with emotion. I recognized the house. It used to belong to my grandma, who passed away 3 years ago. I grew up in this house. I told my boyfriend what was going on so he would understand why I might be acting a little weird, and to reassure him it wasn’t because of meeting his friends. I asked him not to say anything about the house yet, because I was overwhelmed, nervous, and probably feeling a little bit of grief at that moment. I also didn’t really want it to overshadow the purpose of the night.

Work in a real job like HR where you can tell people to gently caress off with their complaints about work conditions, and also deliver the news that they're being sacked.

Kind of crazy how insanely more valuable and meaningful working in childcare is compared to being some HR drone. It's like comparing apples to a literal pile of poo poo. The level of delusion these HR robots operate under is almost unbelievable.

Take the laundry out and put it in the dryer 7. Turn the loving dryer on and wait, jfc it's not complicated

greazeball posted:1. Separate whites, colours and synthetic/delicates Had my cousin (34 years old, 34 years old) to stay with us last week. I was making dinner for us all, saw it started raining and asked him to take in the mostly-dry washing from the line outside. He looked me dead in the eye and said "I don't know how to do that, sorry" and went back to watching the snooker. He was subsequently surprised by the fact his eight year old nephew took him by the hand, led him outside and showed him how to unpin a peg from a sheet, all the while instructing him in the kindly but slightly infantilising manner a care home worker might help an old man with memory loss who had forgotten how forks work. The rest of the weekend was spent saying things like "This is hand soap, Uncle John, you use it to make bubbles, make sure you dont drink it!" and "This knife might be too sharp for you, Uncle John, I'll just cut your steak up for you". He seemed to get the message while he was with us, but it won't last once he goes back to his mums house.

For a lot of people it's not so much not ever being taught how to do things, but being given none or entirely inadequate instructions and then continuously screamed at when attempting to do them over and over and over to the point where we're deathly afraid of Doing It Wrong and have no idea where to even begin without specific instructions. I've had to legitimately ask my mother five times in a row before I even begin to get a coherent, workable answer to 'Where do you want me to move these plant pots to?' Like, imagine the worst boss you've ever had, the ones that made actually accomplishing anything the most difficult thing in the world for no reason. Where the job is like one part actually doing the job to five parts getting lectured, yelled at, ignored and expected to hurry up and wait.

Doing laundry should be easy, but I still come in to work to find that someone has put the detergent in the wrong tray, or put fabric softener in with the tea towels. The previous cleaning lady drew a picture of the tray with arrows pointing to what goes where and stuck it to the machine so that no one would be able to miss it, and yet... Don't assume someone will get a simple task right just because it's simple. Just show them how it's done, you can always get annoyed afterwards if they gently caress it up.
