Coughing coworker who just came back from South America just casually mentioned he's already had COVID 3x. He agreed it was probably a good idea to test for COVID based on his current symptoms. Wild the world others live in. I run for my home PCR the moment I have a scratchy throat, meanwhile homie is hacking up a lung and it never occurred to him to test until I mentioned it.

does anyone still gently caress with HOCl disinfectant? one of the spray bottles i use is haunted. that one, and only that one, loses its chlorine content and effectiveness really fast. another bottle's liquid tests good after months. my current guess is that there's some magic dried residue that built up inside that's causing each batch to expire much quicker.

you could write it as “The country has not been free of major outbreaks of COVID-19 variants since the COVID-19 downgrade, including the ninth infection wave last summer and some other periods.” it’s the same information hahah just different weasel words

Really we should've just simply classify everyone as a kid and adulthood only starts at 65. That could had made thing so much easier and saved so many lives that way

Bloomberg posted:Americans routinely pay to avoid time-consuming and inconvenient experiences, like paying to use streamlined-security lines at airports and express lanes on highways. Masks, just like the regular line at airport security, are time-consuming and inconvenient with zero upside, so paying to get out of them makes total sense!

Continued support for my pet hypothesis that nobody actually gets "better" after SARS-CoV-2 infection, it's just that the permanent damage doesn't rise to clinical significance in most people until the virus gets a few swings at your body-pinata

RandomBlue posted:oh wow, poo poo we knew 2+ years ago This seems to be a steeper curve than the one I remember, that got a lot of shares back then! It is amusing that the data on this *exactly* follows the math of a 15% long covid chance at each infection. 1 case : 85% chance of being ok 2 cases : (.85)^2 = 72.2% chance 3 cases: (.85)^3 = 61% chance of being ok (last data point from this trial) 4 cases: (.85)^4 = 52.2% chance .... 10 cases : (.85)^10 = only a 19.6% chance of being ok, over 80% will have faced long covid. It doesn't seem like people are *more* susceptible. But no one is gaining any resistance Minimizers will say that at *some* point people recover, and that many long covid symptoms are just "amusing or not a big deal", like not being able to smell - not really comprehending what not being able to smell actually entails. It's not cause your nose is stuffy! We probably aren't going to have 80%+ of the population with self-reported brain fog at any given time. However....it does seem there is plenty of cumulative damage, and to an extent the person just adapts to their new normal and reports feeling fine again. People are adaptable, without even understanding what is happening.
