i’ve been seeing a bunch of twitter and reddit accounts, assumedly bots or paid posters telling people they should watch youtube storm chasers like ryan hall for tornado and severe weather updates, with a lot of posts ahead of today’s SPC predictions. which might get people loving killed. the social media storm chaser grift needs to be put down. these people don’t care about your safety and only want footage for views.
i mean at the end of the day they're pretty much just sitting there streaming a map repeating nws alerts

it is definitely a grift and ryan hall is the most annoying person on the planet but

It's almost like the Katrina floods, but hitting 2/3 of the state. Wasn't expecting to see such a thing so close to home but of course it was just a matter of time.

Fields of glory shine eternal

It was funny watching the stream of dozens of chaser cars blocking traffic on back roads, but probably less funny for first responders.

Luneshot

Most chasers seem pretty good about stopping to check on/help people who get impacted by weather, but any dipshit with a car, a camera, and a RadarScope Pro subscription can go put themselves in danger for views, and it's only a matter of time before another mile-wide tornado takes an erratic trajectory and swipes a bunch of inexperienced (or experienced) chasers who got too close.

Same, but Alabama. The shelter is right down the street, and cost of living is less than utilities cost in CT before factoring in 1700/mo rent.
