If people really don't want gen AI threads on the forum, the place to settle that is SAD. Some of the mods clearly don't want it, so you'd probably get some support from management at least.

Suno is probably going to become a Spotify-like AI music thing. They just added following profiles and a few more social features.

Makes sense, keep it all internal rather than having to go outside to YouTube. I don't know what their strategy is for like, business growth but since we're all paying customers maybe it doesn't matter. Wonder if/when monetization will look like.

Fwiw they didn't listen to anything in this thread, they can't stand any of it regardless of what it is. The only reason they're here is to find targets that they feel they are most likely to get away with harassing, any argument or reasoning is only a cover for that goal. Just put them on ignore.

This isn't surprising. That Rolling Stone article about Suno didn't even mention custom lyrics, they're clearly gearing the service to be a slop generator as opposed to something designed to give the user agency and control.

Udio has been doing better in that regard, at least, though it had a lot of that social junk out the gate. Hopefully they follow through on providing the ability to generate stems.

I still ultimately want this to be a VST plugin, or similar.

Maybe. In talking with the devs they are kinda naive nerds. Inpainting (or infill as they call it) should be released with v4 and id assume a quality jump like the versions before it. They've even mentioned stems as well, though it would be like it is now where you break the master apart rather than get the stems directly since Suno (and Udio) don't use stems at all, they output the master only. We'll see! I actually don't really like Udio in so much as it's interface and UI, but the quality is clearly better.

HNNNNNGG!!
Udio’s interface sucks poo poo and their decision to go with samey three-coloured TRON-esque cube display icon things for every song by default without even so much as a consistency between those colours or the auto-generated song names it comes up with per individual or unmodified prompts makes it a pain in the rear end to keep track of what I’m doing. At least with Suno there was some clearly defined consistency at a glance if you just wanted some clarification as to where the delineation of one generation was in relation to the next.

Also I’m going to start brigading photoshop threads to tell them they’re ruining both photography and oil painting to really show those nerds that I have opinions about how things should be done and that innovation sucks and they shouldn’t be allowed to breathe the same oxygen as the rest of us. Who’s with me?

I know their type. They aren't interested in any sincere conversation about this stuff, for all their talk about the importance of the human spirit they seem to outright avoid building any empathy, to the point of contriving reasons to otherize. So I figure it's more pathologically base and simple than them being concerned about the effects of a new technology.

They aren't angry at AI, they don't actually give a poo poo about the effects of it or the consequences any more than your typical schoolyard bully cares about your health when calling you fat. They get off hurting people, but are smart enough to pick the targets that the social groups they creep into let get away with.

They'd fit in over at Kiwi Farms, not quite as deranged but it's literally that kind of mindset. That's why they started posting in this thread, to provoke, because they find it fun.

Are there any known prompt modifiers for Suno or Udio in the same way that you can tell SD to give priority to words (like this:1.6), or introduce variety from a list by {using|choosing|selecting|omitting} phrases like so?

In Suno at least, no. The thing that does seem to work is repeating words and also placement. Earlier in the prompt is more powerful vs. end. There is no way to 'lessen' a set of tokens though.

One thing to note with Udio prompts is the text limit is very long, so if you want to do a song on a very specific subject you can just copy and paste text from Wikipedia or a ChatGPT summary of the topic into the prompt. Now you can make all the songs you like about very niche topics only you care about.

I also discovered today that it appears Udio can detect when a song sounds too much like a real life artist, preventing you from extending the song. This song, which sounds a lot like the Pet Shop Boys, throws up continual moderation errors if I try to extend it

the other white meat
Back when I first started playing with Suno, I began three particular tracks that I really liked and wanted to seriously work on. One will require external editing because it consists of multiple existing tracks that Suno currently offers no means to stitch together, but I've managed to get the other two to a state I consider "finished", and am (mostly) happy with:

Squirrel Tape Love
https://suno.com/song/b5c1a15e-b077-4adb-b0da-90be3ee160b3

Hotdog Man
https://suno.com/song/19555ad0-5477-4f20-b509-51359c53eacb

Then when I heard about Udio I was curious to learn how it differed to Suno, so I tried a few prompts I'd already used in the latter to compare the results. Where Suno excels in 80's Emo ballads, Udio slays with smooth jazz beat poems.

A savage werewolf taunts its prey before devouring them.
Suno: https://suno.com/song/b7e61bdb-103a-4da8-bdab-632c3fa91cc0
Udio: https://www.udio.com/songs/8shG4A8Qv8tQcSAUSg3dtz

A retelling of the Minotaur legend, where Theseus is not the beast's end, but the beginning of a new love.
Suno: https://suno.com/song/59bd1170-9316-4da6-8bde-402871f0acbf
Udio: https://www.udio.com/songs/qc1KyCjGjcR1eqtTS1pnf1

Then I just started experimenting in Udio more, getting some cool varied styles. Hair metal Orcish warband marching anthem? Got you covered:
https://www.udio.com/songs/jXK8ts99gH4WsnMW5Zhp3Q

Coming soon to a Ren Faire near you, a folk ballad about how to tell the difference between a Satyr and a Faun:
https://www.udio.com/songs/i3vtxZarLHZJVkSzH3r76r

Sometimes Udio lets its "inspiration" shine through too much, like this little number that is way too close to "Hometown" by Joe Romersa, from the Silent Hill 3 soundtrack (and more well known for using the SH1 theme). From the singers voice to the slight jank of the vocals as if they've been imperfectly translated from the original Japanese:
https://www.udio.com/songs/mYrCBBpe19Mv8QCJcECgHr

And then this monstrosity that I spent way too much time on out of pure stubborn spite. The biggest joke about it is that Udio produced it from a prompt asking for "children's music":
