From what I can tell, you only drive at events. Most of the time you're watching your little indicator move across the highway map, and then when you reach an driving event is when you actually take control. A little disappointing.

Yeah the driving is limited but at least you CAN drive when the events happen. But apparently it's mostly a visual novel of sorts. Interesting collection of genres.

This one would have slipped me by if it weren't for me randomly checking it on one of my steam notifications:

A survival city-building game with flying cities. Build, automate, and defend a flying city that travels between procedurally generated maps to survive in a wacky, nightmare-infested, post-apocalyptic world full of strange science and dreams.

(Sorry for lack of trailer, I couldn't find one on youtube for it's 1.0 release, which is incidentally why I am posting this).

I haven't played this, but it's a game about a flying city and also about pushing your luck gathering resources and then getting out with your goods before things get too hectic. It has over 300 reviews and averages at "mostly positive".

Played the demo of this one, and it's certainly unique, I'll give it that. Typing of the Dead, but what you type is the kind of attack you perform. There is a system for unlocking different skills at different times, so I don't imagine it's possible to unlock DESTROY from the very beginning. But there is a bit of guessing to figure out what kind of attack words are available, and there's something like 100+ judging by the skill tree. Different attacks have different cooldowns and advantages. A magical ZAP might stun enemies but requite 30 seconds of cooldown, where SLASH is quick, but bad against armor/shields. This is not turn based either so, if you take too long figuring out what to type, or make mistakes, enemies will kill you pretty quickly. IIRC you can't look at your list of skills/attacks/abilities during combat, so you may have to keep pen and paper handy. That might have been changed in the full release.

Whenever you get to a treasure chest, you have to play a guessing game with limited clues to figure out what is inside. Guess wrong too many times and you miss out on what the item was. Never failed on purpose for getting the starting sword or helmet, but missed out on RAT the first time around. You get to ask to ask stock questions like "What is it made of?" or "What does it taste like?", and I like the way it makes you think differently about objects.

I don't know if the voice acting is AI or if they had a real person record a bunch of lines, but it's impressive the reactions to both right and wrong answers.

It really feels like someone was given a challenge to make a real, entertaining "game" game out of an educational title, and they managed to really pull it off. What if Mavis Beacon was a fantasy necromancer?

The Cryptmaster demo was a lot of fun but had some weird audio issues for me that kinda killed the vibe. No matter the settings sound effects and music drowned out the voices, so it was real hard to hear what the narrator was saying.

This game is pretty drat cool. Not perfect, I definitely have some complaints about the story and it feels like they could've leaned a lot more into the alternate history/supernatural stuff. But the driving is actually fun as hell, the art style is good and most importantly it is truly unique. I have never in my life played a game just like this one.

Homeworld 3 is just one I simply have to have, because of its uniqueness. Basically any game that is unique, I am compelled to attain. A space RTS in true 3D space, with at least some nods to realism, that absolutely qualifies. Also, mod support has been confirmed for the game which I think will take it from decent and unique to something truly special. Hopefully.

I am also extremely interested in Falling Frontier but I don't believe that's coming out for quite some time.

I like this one a lot. It's a mix of visual novel, the scenes in an RPG where you walk around a town and talk to people, and something like Firewatch. It feels kind of like watching a season of anime. All the different pieces are put together pretty well, it does the Nier genre change thing quite a bit and it works, and everything feels good. Once you get used to the visuals it has a lot of stuff that looks really really good.

It's really ambitious, and it coheres remarkably well for how much it's trying to do. Not every chapter is as good as the rest, but it starts and ends strong and nothing is too out of place. Ab.ut 10h too, which is long for this kind of thing.

So yeah, if any of that sounds cool give it a try.
