I had a coopers hawk follow me home couple of years ago and wouldn't leave so I gave him to the wildlife rehab people. Hawks are cool dudes if you're not a small animal.

Freudian slippers posted:But why? Why wouldn't you fake being live and pay a few people to pre-record messages? Everything else here is fake, so why not go the full mile? Because it was live content with likeable personalities that some audiences, i.e. old people, liked and watched regularly at certain hours, leaving other such channels that didn't have live studio crew with fewer viewers. It's all about boosting sales, if it brings more money to the company than the production costs then it would be dumb to not do it.

Bicycles predate paved roads as we know them. Detroit likes to claim that Woodward Avenue was the first paved mile in America in 1909, which isn’t strictly true, there were earlier experiments, but they (and Woodward) were all experiments. It took the U.S. Army (and a young Dwight Eisenhower) two months to cross the continent in 1919. Roads were awful back then. Cyclists just had to deal with it. P.S.: Here’s Ike posing in front of his childhood home in Kansas: Platystemon has a new favorite as of 01:04 on May 10, 2024 |

Bit of a tangent, but this guy followed that route backwards (more or less) in the modern day and made a 7 hour documentary about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmFQR0IltDQ It's just the right amount of mildly interesting if you need something on in the background.

I can't bike anymore either, but I still hit the occasional cyclocross event for the friendly vibes and ridiculous antics. Less serious leagues still let the spectators hand beers to the cyclists mid-race. I wasn't exaggerating earlier when I said cx was the best poo poo ever, it's such a loving party.

The brother in the orange T-shirt slowly realizing dumb rear end is full of poo poo as they get arrested You can see him losing his bull poo poo tough guy facade when they start taking about arrests as he turns into a the ten year old he always was inside. They were totally pumping each other up while in the line too The cops can eat poo poo but I hate these two guys with every fiber of my being they are the loving worst people you could ever deal with. His arguments are legal nonsense, and their theme makes it very likely that him getting mad at border control guards at all is just a stopped clock taking a quick break between getting mad about rescinded driving licences and court enforced child support.
