I've never been a violent person but lately I've noticed that whenever I see videos of these Zionist agitators, I get pretty worked up and the feeling I would go utterly bananas on them if confronted in real life. Like full lizard brain takeover aggression, no backing down before blows have been exchanged. Not that I'd necessarily win or anything, just saying the discipline of these protestors is something to behold.

Truly insane stuff coming from Columbia's president as an opinion piece in today's FT: https://www.ft.com/content/18432ba2-d1f7-4661-99c8-6fd9d064b7ea Minouche Shafik posted:When I was inaugurated as Columbia’s 20th president on October 4, 2023, I called for strengthening the bond between universities and society through a recommitment to academia’s contribution to the common good. The horrors of the Hamas attack three days later, the ensuing war with Israel and the tragic loss of civilian lives in Gaza have tested that bond in unimaginable ways. I have seen the campus engulfed in tensions and divisions deepened by powerful external forces.

remember that university administration is liberalism incarnate - they hold open civil discourse as a central unassailable ethos and they will always be opposed to any disruption of order. that's fine, let them, in the end you need all kinds; as with everything in social justice, the universities will keep on being homes for lots of interesting thinkers who write a lot and do nothing in practice except outsource it to the kids. in the meantime, when they're unaligned with justice, it's on us to keep disrupting their happy little tea house. the dumb poo poo in the letter is the vague charges of antisemitism and the blame of "outside agitators" for... something? which they think, somehow, is rhetoric that can placate shithead zionists without throwing their community under the bus. of course, anyone with a loving brain asks why you're pushing this narrative. adore that the bastions of freedom and free expression, the Universities, are in fact entirely subject to the whims and opinions of a handful of high level donors. It is a good example of why charity cannot replace a social safety net and other organized political projects because charity is dependent on the good will of and good humor of a small group of rich people and organizations

The protests aren't helping, which is why the cops were called on them. Much like when you call the liaison officer to discipline a child at school by choke slamming them into their desk.
