I remember talking to a musician who mastered albums, and he said of all the hundreds of isolated vocal tracks he's ever heard, Anthony Kiedis was by far the least talented singer.

I weirdly associate this song with Chris Farley's death, like maybe I heard it on the radio right after the announcement or something, but either way it's vaguely tainted forever even though I don't necessarily hate it

Aww dude. The Warped tour. Somehow the 90s to 2000s were the best and worst time for punk music

Apparently the lyrics were written by Bernie Taupin who is the guy behind all of Elton John's lyrics. I read his autobiography and he throws some jabs at Starship, but ultimately owns up to the song's creation.

Well Blender magazine is just clickbait bullshit. It's a perfectly fine song, big silly 80's production, and a good fun lyric for a has-been 60's band to sing. Compare it with some no-effort commercial drone like "I Won't Back Down", which has about 4 chords and 5 words

I looked up the full lyrics to Do They Know It's Christmas just to refresh my memory.

I am now changing my vote. It's not Muskrat Love or MacArthur Park. Those are just bad. But the cringe levels in Do They Know It's Christmas are off the charts.

We Are The World is a close second just for a bunch of millionaires singing about poverty.
