But for the first time in my life, I think I've gone too far.

I've seen it used both for people who aren't in clubs, and also for people who got to schools where club attendance is mandatory, so they just play hookey.

Yeah it depends on the school, some of the higher end college prep high schools have mandatory club, but most of the public schools while they have clubs they are not mandatory generally.

But if you go to some of the higher end schools showing a lack of effort by not joining a club is frowned upon, with the exception if you are in student council or any other committee.

Yeah I have a friend who went to high school in Japan and he joined the Student Council just so he could get around the requirement to join a club, and because it would look good on his educational resume.

Yes, and to be fair in Japan, English is compulsory from 3rd Grade up for Business reasons, so you are already required to take a second language.

Looks like the translator has bad or missing raws for a few chapters so is waiting for the volume 2 release which should be pretty soon. The manga should also wrap up at the end of vol 2 so that's nice.

Implying the proposal was mutual is a bit of an overstatement when one of the parties could rip the heart of the other out in a moment's notice.

Don't really see what on the first page set you off, care to share? There's so many manga that if you only reach the first page/chapter you are going to get chased off (Nagatoro/Dangers in my Heart/etc.)

They are both fairly skilled shinobi, you need to read further.

I'm going to guess its the fact that the first page tells you their ages and professions and the second page isn't the guy being arrested?

I remember this story from the Surreal daily life thread. It's made abundantly clear that the girl is an apex master from her clan who consistently defeated whole groups of the opposing shinobi by herself as well as casually killing her own people on at least one occasion. The MC himself recounts that he barely made it back from their encounters but his sheer persistence in not dying is what infatuated her. While he is skilled in his own right (with an emphasis on intel gathering it seems) part of the initial push for this relationship is that the girl can literally overpower him, and makes open threats to slaughter the clans if anyone gets in the way of her cohabitation. This threat is treated seriously and the only way the MC can stop her is to go along with her whims.

It's fine, I like this kind of juxtaposition and the other series from this author about a Gyaru with Cthulhu as her pet had a similar tone. Cute drama with :black101: on the side. Shame Tls dried up

Yeah and given that early Dangers is, if anything, even more weird and off putting than early Nagatoro the original point about unappetizing early chapters stands.

When I saw the rec I thought the premise was fun and so read the forum post to see if the rest was planned for scanlation or not before actually reading a chapter or two. This is a pretty disappointing development (for anyone who hasn't read the first page it's 17 and highschool girl contrasted with 23 and salaryman). Reading the rest of the discussion here I guess it's done as, essentially, a fakeout to setup the core tension of the series, and through that lens I suppose it's doing its job.

But, like, it's a pretty gross framing and I really wish there was less sexualization of minors in these mediums which I am truly coming to love.

In news about romance manga with two age-appropriate protags, Blooming Love continues the dad arc by introducing mum and I'm a big fan. It's good character development - real conflict, but not at a level where it can't be resolved or there isn't room to grow and move forward. And likely it won't be fully resolved but we should see some Sugisaki growth all around and that's the wholesome goodness I'm here for. My one complaint is that we haven't seen enough Ibuki painting recently.

Porn is involved in a decent portion of mangaka careers, but doujinshi and Comiket (or similar but more local) is basically every single one of them, I think.

My favorite part about romcom updates is looking at how many comments a chapter has and guessing if progress happened or if people are losing it over being jerked around.

It's real cute y'all

I'm glad she finally admitted it to herself. I am hopeful for the future. Taira isn't exactly in a great place to be dating, but neither is Azuma and both their issues are ones that you could work through with someone else once you've made a little progress rather than explicitly needing to work through them alone. I do think that Azuma has made those first steps of progress towards self-acceptance, but I'm not sure if Taira has enough. I hope that they get some happy progress, but I could see an endgame where they don't make it work (and hopefully achieve some greater level of self-acceptance and self-worth).
