Listen, I've been around a bit, you know, and I thought I'd seen some creepy things go on in the movie business, but I really have to say this is the most disgusting thing that's ever happened to me.
I don't feel like an effort post of a thread right now but it looks to me like the Moomintroll / Snufkin game doesn't have its own thread. I might rectify that at some point.

It's really solid in terms of nailing the vibe of the books and related media real well, it's entertaining, and so far it's not very hard but parts of it have been hard enough that our 7 year old gets frustrated and wants me to jump in, and they are learning some basic stealth and adventure game mechanics.

It's very good and not very expensive, if you're into things Moomin.

Its a cute, short game. Enjoyable with kids too. The world map can be a bit annoying as it's very imprecise but otherwise great game.

Swilo posted:

You beat me to posting this, I backed it a couple years ago and am excited to play this weekend.

Here's some advice from the dev in their launch update:

This was pretty fun up until the last item and dungeon, then it got super fiddly and annoying. You get an item to hover across gaps like the cuckoo in Link's Awakening, but enemies on the ground can still hit you and this knocks you out of the air. You of course have to cross a bunch of screens with fast enemies that either home in on you or shoot projectiles :tizzy: I got through that mess and the final boss has an absolutely absurd amount of HP even with all the weapon upgrades. This was kind of a trend all along, some normal enemies take 30+ hits when you first encounter them and still 5+ at endgame. There's a post-game dungeon which I (and several others) seem to have gotten softlocked trying to complete by using keys on the wrong doors. The dev is patching it several times a day and breaking something new for every fix. Secrets mostly consist of blindly slashing at things to see if they're breakable.

I hate to say avoid it, but at least wait until it settles into a stable build and there are guides written if you care to go for 100% completion.

For anybody who doesn't immediately recognize it, this is a tribute to Maze of Gallious which itself heavily inspired La-Mulana.
