It also makes Kamala's earlier eye-rolling and declarations that she's "concern trolling" somewhat bittersweet. It paints it as someone (albeit clumsily) trying to learn a new culture, as opposed to the sort of accidental othering through forced tolerance.

I'm pretty certain you mean Nakia's declaration -- all the more ironic here considering she seemed proven right at the time. On the other hand, I wonder if Zoe's near-drowning, aka Kamala's first superhero appearance in the very next issue was actually the beginning of her change, which stayed mostly off-page because of Kamala avoiding her until Secret Wars?

On the topic of Ms. Marvel's Civil War II, anyone else really liking the historical prologues?

Yeah, the prologues are the bright shining star of the last couple issues.

I reread it and it was Bruno. We're both wrong!

Though pretty much the first thing Zoe says is to compliment Nakia on how pretty her headscarf is. This is going to be amazing.

So like is Carol on the new Illuminati? It sure looked like she was visiting their clubhouse in CW2 #4. And I thought it had a no girls allowed sign on the door.

At this point I'm going to Arzy and say they're totally going to make Loki the next President.

If you stick to the 1970s or so, things are often weird as hell but relatively light-hearted for all that. It's not until the '80s that you start getting more grim stories on the regular.

For more recent stuff, you might enjoy the various Power Pack miniseries.

I liked how the Hood had no idea how to use them. He just held them in his hands and punched Rulk with them.

I can see why you'd want to draw a contrast. Much like 9/11, CW2 is something we can only pray will never be repeated, but probably will thanks to economic pressures.

(I know that the CW aspect features little in the comic.)

I'm not sure the target audience for a SG movie would appreciate Doreen losing 50 pounds and getting prettier when she transforms into SG.

I'd kind of feel sorry for Anna Kendrick if she gets the role and doesn't put on a bunch of weight. She's going to get so much hate, it's going to take thin shaming to a whole new level.
