Jazzzzz posted:I guess if it's raked out enough, you'd have to run a pretty weak front brake to keep it from locking the wheel up whenever you used it due to insufficient weight transfer. So why even have it if it's drat near useless in the first place? I'm grasping at straws here, but that's the only semi-plausible reason I could come up with. The no-front-brake thing (as well as kicked-out fronts) comes from the origins of the chopper being home-made drag bikes. You want to accelerate as fast as possible in a straight line? Get the CoG as low as low and the front wheel as far out as possible to stop it from looping off the line, strip off any component that isn't to do with acceleration and tune the gently caress out of what's left. Stopping performance isn't too much of a problem when you've got a quarter of a mile of runoff to do it in.

Fanelien posted:What is this? Some sort of moron pride ride? It's just dudes doing wheelies around the city on dirtbikes. I used to see groups like this regularly when I lived in dc. It started in baltimore, but happens in most big east coast cities now. Most places have no-chase laws, so there's not really anything the city can do besides slowly follow them or take pictures. No plates so identification is difficult. I always enjoyed their shenanigans and loved hearing the sound of 100 2-strokes approaching lol. I don't blame anyone for disliking them though.

Not unlike big grouped planned rides where a few guys pull through an intersection and stop to block it off so everyone can get through in one group. I think both scenarios are fairly stupid but I loathe group rides unless I'm on 100% dirt.

I know that intersection well. It's right off the highway down by the old braves stadium. Atlanta having their own 12oclock boys is ok by me, and there are lots of very active riding groups in atlanta. I've never seen them in person, but I rarely ride down in south atlanta.
