dont even fink about it posted:"Roll to advance plot" is not a roll people should make. Among other reasons, never make people roll for something if nothing interesting would happen on a failure. The fact that this is not obvious to the lead designer of the RPG with the most name recognition in the world is hilarious.

There's an idiot in that timeline jumping down the throat of someone asking why exactly the class should only be legal to the person donating, which strikes me as a pretty valid question. Like yeah I get the appeal of "Here's a thing only I can have" but it's a bit weird when that results in something not being added to your game that's desperate for content.MonsterEnvy posted:Also survey on the Eladrin and Gith. If a roll's important you or the gm can say "he's only got one hand though" to grant you disadvantage (or not even attempt) in return for an inspiration to be used later.

I am a bit confused about how HP works in 5e. Let's say my Con mod is +1 and I am a bard taking average. Level 1 would be 8+1=9 hp Level 2 would be 9 +5 +1=15 Level 3 would be 15+5+1=21 Then at level 4 I take +2 Con making my modifier +2 Do I get Level 4 21+5+2 = 28 Or do I get because it's retroactive Level 4 = 8 +3 * 5 +4 * 2 = 31 And if it is retroactive, why didn't they just gave out formulas for HP.

Imazul posted:Then at level 4 I take +2 Con making my modifier +2 Legit thats the most complicated description of hp gain i've seen lol though its correct. It definitely is retroactive and your second line is correct there . The reason its not part of a formula is probably that it can happen outside of the levelling schema so its not necessarily a good place to put it. Though yes having just a HP = HP + dice average + CON MOD is the formula. Or I guess your general formula = Level 1 HP + ((Dice Average Value + CON MOD) x level) kingcom fucked around with this message at 04:04 on Sep 22, 2017 |

The simplest way to do the math is to just add (your level*modifier change) to your max HP whenever it changes, doing so after any normal level-up changes. kingcom posted:The reason its not part of a formula is probably that it can happen outside of the levelling schema so its not necessarily a good place to put it. Thanks. Players not using a character builder had the wrong HP totals. It's especially though to see with those that roll for HP but with the PHB rule it's easier to explain now.

There's a good chance the devs literally did not realize there was an HP formula, and that's why they never wrote it down.

I imagine that hydras, if not able to get meat, would prefer vine fruits so that each head can more easily get even shares. I imagine it would suck if one of your mouths didn't taste anything while the others feast. For the same reason, a whole passel of rabbits would also be appealing.
