caps on caps on caps posted:Not to disrupt the exciting Steuer&Abgabenchat in our German thread, but what is a good strategy to get good Stollen in a city? imo the stuff that gets sold as original dresdner stollen is usually as good as your average bäckerstollen. There are some bakeries who do really good ones but local bakeries can be a bit hit and miss when it comes to stollen. The closest one to my parents makes garbage stollen we avoid at all cost. Some Cafe/Konditorei kind of places sell their own Baumkuchen too

stollen ist so ein trockener mist, lieber ess ich pures mehl. dachte immer das wär so ein relikt das nur leute essen die danach nostalgisch sind weil sie früher nichts anderes hatten respekt das die dinger doch so beliebt sind, ich geb mir lieber spekulatius-twix

Spekulatius Twix sind nichts gegen einen guten Marzipanstollen. Leider hat der dafür verantwortliche Bäcker dieses Jahr dichtgemacht und ich sehe mich gezwungen, ohne Stollen die Feiertage überleben zu müssen.

Panettone is also good, even though I can't eat much of it. For some reason it fills up my stomach really fast. Luckily that stuff holds for loving ever, but still, this means I can buy maybe one Panettone per year and only if I'm willing to only eat Panettone for a week or two.

Now that I think of it I like the idea of a soft, moist and Marzipany Stollen, but I never actually had a good one what if what if it doesnt exist Baumkuchen on the other hand is very nice
