Yeah wow it sounds like the Jets didn't deserve to win when you take out all the parts where they did something right and ignore the parts where the refs either nullified their achievements or handed the Patriots free points. You've made a compelling argument that the Jets would have lost this game anyway and in fact earned the blatantly incorrect officiating that directly lead to their loss.

The Adams call was bullshit but it was also followed by a makeup call in a very similar circumstance in which the defender blatantly committed DPI on Gronk and wasn't called which would probably have led to a touchdown. The Jets also benefited from some bizarre defensive holding calls on linemen. If you frame any game from the perspective of just missed or bad calls in favor of one team every game will look rigged because the refs regularly gently caress up in all sorts of ways every game. That being said, that "touchback" call, even if it was probably notionally correct in the abstract given the rule, absolutely was not sufficient evidence to overturn on review and is a really stupid rule anyway and was a ridiculously impactful call so I can sympathize with being unhappy about that. The real story of that game, however, is the Jets offense absolutely going to poo poo between the TD at the start of the second quarter until the fourth quarter and letting the Patriots back into the game by not capitalizing on their main weakness, an atrociously bad defense.

LOL My point is the Jets were Jetsy and spent two thirds of the game punting or throwing picks. Outside of the touchback ruling, nothing that happened in the officiating of that game was abnormal from any regular Sunday.

It should be said that if Gronk was on the receiving end of that fumble ruling that Barstool Sports would have already published Riveron's home address.

The one that wasn't on the field yesterday? Citing All Pros is kinda silly when anyone with eyes can see how bad that defense has been for six weeks.

I'm just saying that you should feel really bad about your underperforming trash team. Whereas the Jets are scrappy underdogs made of guys not even good enough to make the Pats roster (Ealy).

mcmagic posted:What exactly do pats fans want? They want to continue blatantly being given games and people to just ignore it and pay homage to their greatness? This is what will happen forever anyway. It's the mainstream take now. I mean, let's be real here. Whether they have a few more good seasons in them, or if they just crap out this year, will be a historical footnote either way. Any more winning the Patriots do from here on out will just make the rubble bounce. There's nothing left to do and nothing matters. Brady's the greatest, Belichick is the greatest, these takes are already the conventional wisdom everywhere and will never, ever go away. You can start rooting for a Brady-Belichick pedophilia ring scandal I guess, but that's about it at this point. Otherwise you're just yelling out the window at global warming. It's all wasted on Boston sports fans, too, because so many of them can't really enjoy it. They're carrying around generations of dumb sports persecution complexes because they were only really good at baseball most of the time instead of the best at it almost all the time like the Yankees were. Seriously, 99% of their dumb poo poo is Red Sox-connected inter-generational brain cancer that's metastasized into everything else and made them crybabies no matter how good things are.
