Oh definitely. If I ever do manage to find another one is be putting a cage in it for sure.

The rear mounts for the drivers seats need strengthening as well. I came to a stop once and it tore the mounts out of the back and my seat just folder forwards.

There’s almost nothing better than watching Jordan Cox destroy V8’s across the top of Mt Panorama in his EG. Incredible talent, full send the entire time. I believe the Celica in the second video is also 1UZ swapped too.

I learned to drive in one, the firewall was cracked where the clutch pedal went through so the friction point was ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Firewall cracks were incredibly common in those as well.

Oh god, yeah didn’t mean to imply any measure of awesomeness, just throwing in on J body chat. I should add we got plenty of Toyota badged 3rd gen Cavaliers as ex Japan imports. Don’t see them around any more either. Not sure what was a worse joke on poor Japanese buyers, those or the Honda badged LR Discovery.

I assume all camira's rusted into the earth in the early 2000's at the very latest. I remember there being a trend for hotting them up along with geminis around 2004-06 but once they all rusted out they seemed to have fully disappeared which I can't say I'm entirely sad about.

I ended up with some Camira Dealer showroom Laserdiscs (LDs are a thing I am into) and i palmed them off. Even as a Holden fan. Man I'd even prefer an Astra Convertible DVD

My mates dad was a holden salesman in the 90s and I used to think it was cool how he got driven around in all these different coloured cars that smelt new

Just how in the gently caress did people "hot up" front wheel drive holdens though? Geminis would have been fun to hot up at least, before they rusted

Interestingly enough, I had that problem on my second car, the J-body's predecessor, an H-body Chevy Monza. On mine, the mounting point and reinforcement for the clutch cable simply ripped through the firewall.
Also, one of the lower control arm mounting points cracked off as well. Not sure what GM's problems with steel was on those.

I'm in the same boat but I'd be lying if I said it wouldn't be a hard sell against the Miata. At around $20k, you only need to go another $5k for an ND which is overall a much better car for the money.

That said, the S660 is some of the most fun I've had in a car. Whether going a mere 25mph on some mountain roads or maxing out at 85mph just trying to keep up with traffic, it's just a goddamn hoot. On second thought, yeah I'd probably buy one too.

And the fact that most people like "you" really mean "I'd buy one...used." (Not calling you guys out specifically, just saying in general) Cheap enough that it may be better in this case maybe but every time I see that about wagons or whatever model-usa-doesn't-get it's always the same. It comes here, sells like garbage then exits the market again. Most car enthusiasts just don't buy new but love to act like they do online.

I totally get and agree with your point in general but I literally mean right now. In cash. With a smile on my face the whole way home and every other time I drove it until the eventual heat death of the universe.

And yes I know I’m infamous for changing cars like people change underwear but to my credit I’ve kept my current Si that I bought new for over two years, and my EP3 and S2000 are almost that long in the fleet as well.
