Ok i get it now, it would be easier to show it off properly by just extending you arm down instead of turning around and twisting your arm

Lol, had no idea that there would be in jokes in the tatoo artist community

I have a tattoo that is upside down in the same spot no matter which way you want to view it from (the image is facing me, but there's liquid in the image being pulled the correct direction by gravity). I love it. It makes everyone mad.

Basically there's people who view it as objectively a mistake and then people who correctly recognize it as a matter of personal preference that's no one else's business. But every scene has social norms that people try to use to snob their way to credibility.

sucks to be right
I used to watch the reality TV series Ink Master which was about tattoo artists and there's a whole bunch of rules for tattoo placement and which way a tattoo should be facing and the judges would yell at contestants who hosed it up. But quite often an artist would do a tattoo 'wrong' because that's what the client asked for and they were more concerned about giving them a tattoo that meant something to them rather than earn points in the competition.

I used to do transcription on ink master footage (as did at least a few other goons in the early to mid 2010s). Trying to verbatim those softspoken mealymouthed fuckers really inspires you to loving hate the masculine gatekeepy tattoo culture.

one would think that would be the right way, seeing as it's commissioned art. i say this as someone with tattoos properly placed, though its hard to mess up a shoulder and upper arm placement

also arms are capable of rotating partially around both the elbow and the shoulder joint; any direction on an arm could be up, depending on how you orient it

What they said, but it’s typically captioning their unedited footage before it goes through the whole episode-making machine, I do believe they engage more professional captioning services when it comes to episodes but i also wasnt going to watch it on tv to find out

What you need is a tattoo of a symbol that is radially symmetrical so that it looks right from every angle. Might as well make it a bold geometric design too, to really grab those eyeballs. But something with a complex legacy, so it's meaningful. Give me a moment
