Not really sure why. He’s been a reliable target and popular with the team. maybe they’re trying to clear space for another move but even then the cap savings is only ~$2.5m.

I don't understand why they didn't wait the full five days to tie up the Packers cap space. If they wait, the Packers can't really do poo poo in free agency for five days. I love that Pace has done everything I wanted this offseason and he's still managed to annoy me.

I like Jarius Wright and some team is going to get a good #2 wr on the cheap but he was like the fourth guy on this roster and they'd rather spend the money on signings like Richardson who will see the field more often, I assume. I thought it would be for Mathieu but he's apparently going to Houston. It'll be another defensive player though I'm pretty certain. Who is left who would fit? Who is left who would fit? they aren’t up against the cap at all, though. They still had like $10m in cap even after accounting for their draft picks. we’re about to hit the third wave of FA and no one left is going to command a ton of money. I’d expect any additional moves by the Vikings just to be extensions. i mean, i get that Wright’s production wasn’t worth $4m. just surprised me to see him released right now without any clear need for the cap space or a change in the WR corps. Boy I really hope Pettine knows what he's doing with this secondary and/or that Jones/Brice develops as expected. The Packers have plenty of cap room remaining but not many free agents remaining to use it on.

I'm actually not too worried about getting a cb or safety since we have a ton of draft picks. More important is generating a pass rush which I feel can be done schematically with the talent we have. There were too many plays where CBs were burned the last few years because the opposing qb got too much time, or felt zero pressure. I feel like Capers was the cause of most of the problems and I hope Pettine is the answer.

I mean they need to take DB, DB, OLB with 3 of the first 4 picks. There's really no room to do otherwise.

What do you guys think about kicking the tires on a guy like DRC and seeing what he's got left in the tank? I've heard a lot of talk on the radio about brining house back but man, I think I'd rather see them take a shot with Cromartie. At least he would bring some decent experience with him even if he's not the player he once was

oh no the packers are undermanned and will have to rely on either the inevitable annual practice squad guy who comes out of nowhere and becomes a pro bowler or the fact that they don't even need a defense because aaron rodgers

Clinton-Dix is fine at FS, Brice/Josh Jones should be fine for SS Reid should come cheaper than Burnett and waddling idiots getting angry at his kneeling is a plus in my book.

Good Will Hrunting posted:Haha regressed considerably in 2017. I'm worried. I'm hoping that a large part of that was Dom capers being inept and that haha can rebound with a better scheme. It is concerning though. Also our depth in the backfield is going to be so paper thin that any injury to king or dix is going to be brutal. I'm more optimistic about Pettine than I was about another year of capers, but I think it's going to be another year of getting torched in the backfield if the pass rush can't get home.
