I would kill for new thrash bands to employ clean vocals more often.

Theres a reason people like metallica and it aint the drumming

Edit: and why nevermore owned

I like the thrash style of "Not necessarily clean singing but like the kinda punk yell/shout that's verging towards a growl but not quite." That's a fun vocal style for songs about war and booze

I clicked the youtube and the vocals are perfectly fine.

Now for a band that sounds kinda ok but are ruined by terrible vocals; a little obscure group called Metallica.

My takeaway from the current Amon Amarth tour is that Grand Magus and Arch Enemy should have switched set times.

I saw them in Denver a few days ago. I enjoyed Arch Enemy. I still prefer Angela, but Alissa is growing on me. I sprang for the meet & greet with Amon Amarth and afterwords got a pic with her, she was nice. (This is not that pic.)

Amon Amarth was good fun.

Ha!

I went through the meet and greet line with Amon Amarth, then sorta wandered over to where Arch Enemy had theirs. Their line was shorter, so they were already done and just standing around. I talked to Michael Amott and told him I liked how he plays, and showed him a pic on my phone of the ESP guitar I own that's a clone of the one he had back in 2008 or so. After that I asked Alissa if I could take a selfie with her and she said sure.

I fully expect to be called "sheep" by Gossow in an angry tweet over this. ;)

Today I have rediscovered Motörhead's Orgasmatron. On Spotify, it just popped up as a Sepultura cover. I haven't heard that song in 25+ years, and it brought back memories. Couldn't stop replaying it.

It was a dark time in Motörhead's history when it was released, but it still holds, in my opinion, as one of their best songs ever, even if not quite on one of their best albums.

some soundcloud rapper literally copy & pasted cattle decapitation's new album art, add his own name and album title in mspaint on top of it without even bothering to remove CD's logo (probably because he couldn't read it lmao), and then after being called out on it he posted on instagram about how they owe him somehow

Anyone know some good metal songs with jew’s harp?

My gf has been getting into it lately and was wondering if there was any metal that used it. I’m sure it shows up in folk metal but that’s not normally my jam so I don’t know any specific songs.

Otyg used it quite a bit, and I think some Finntroll as well? It's definitely a Thing in folk metal, for sure.

I vaguely remembered it from something I listened to ages ago and found Ahriman - Naturegate:

I don't think it's on every track on the album but the titular one really jams on that mouth harp.

Oozing machismo
I come bearing bandcamp gifts.

https://avantgardemusic.bandcamp.com/album/symbols-the-sleeping-harmony-of-the-world-below - Italian funeral doom stuff with some slightly harsh vocals at times. Not enough to where I'd call it death/doom.

https://wolfanger.bandcamp.com/album/ancients-call - Some Ukranian melodeath for the melodeath boys, lots of keyboards in this.

https://anotherside.bandcamp.com/album/death-eternal - Russian "old school" death metal. This is suitably dirty sounding and some nice riffs.

https://disfigurementofflesh.bandcamp.com/album/disfigurement-of-flesh-sickening-abstractions-single - more Russian death metal. This is the proper burping blast beating death metal.

https://mrome.bandcamp.com/album/leech-ghetto - Polish thrash metal.

https://prcmusic.bandcamp.com/album/paladin-purification-du-mal-cd - Canadian death metal. Extremely filthy.

https://entrails666.bandcamp.com/album/rise-of-the-reaper - Swedish death metal. But the good kind.

And finally, I wasn't exactly expecting a new Profanatica album but here we are in 2019.

edit: listening a bit more to that Profanatica. This is the good poo poo.
