Am I remembering right that they said all of Fanfest will be streamed for free this year except for the Primals concerts? If so, do we know if those will be available somewhere even if you have to pay for them? I'm a big enough sucker for Soken and the boys that I'd gladly toss down some cash to see them do their thing.

Nope. No paid stream so nothing to lock off so concerts are something only fest-goers will get. I mean, it's not impossible to find someone streaming it but there's no official concert stream free or paid.

Semi-weekly picture dump time! Just in time for 4.4, my little static got Karasu Tengu (or Tanil Faren/Tanil Nelhah) her first O8S clear! And mostly left before I could hit print screen but that's okay. In addition to being cool and good and having the second best Touhou as an avatar, I'm pretty sure she was mostly responsible for getting me into raiding forever ago, so it's only fair.   it's her Mateus alt but who cares Also, I'm sad because I finished the Namazu quests and they were the best part of Stormblood so far. On the other hand, being able to wasshoi on command makes up for a lot.  Also also, I got a pretty butterfly and a new haircut.

Like there were/are points where you'd want to use CC such as Sleep because of an accidental overpull to to stall for a member to run back or get resurrected and so on but everything is pretty much immune to sleep now so even if you want to do a big play you're not allowed to.

Crowd control is a hosed if you do, hosed if you don't situation, it's either useless or it gets overpowered because people find the best uses quickly and abuse them as much as they can. I think FF14 doesn't have groups big enough to be worth it anyway though, having a sleepbot casting sleep on poo poo repeatedly means losing like 20% of your aoe dps in dungeons because groups are only 4 size. Maybe if each single monster was too dangerous so you had to kill them one by one by sleeping the rest, but that doesn't sound fun and makes all the aoe skills useless instead. On the other end of the spectrum, I used to play D&D online and one of the optimal strategies for most endgame dungeons was having a wizard with mass hold that made everything not move and get auto-crit on every attack as per helpless rules, and then the group held their attack button through the dungeon with heavy picks because they have x4 crit multiplier, doing hilarious dps in complete safety as long as the monsters weren't immune to hold or had too high will saves. Turbine tried to combat it with immune special enemies and bosses, but people would just bring 5 people that are optimal for the boss and CC the entire rest of the dungeon with the 6th anyway.

The real Titan was the friends you made along the way. I'm a bit surprised at the lack of patch previews just a week out. I know the 4.4 site is up but I seem to remember there being more outfit pictures and dev blog things coming out around this time in the patch cycle.

If chain-grinding 10 levels in Pagos in a single weekend with your buddies is fun, then have at it. I imagine I would have had a fine time if I had a set group of people to chain mobs and do logs with. Every pubbie party I tried to join didn't know what the hell they were doing and the level spread was always too large to get any progress made.

This is my first time playing a game in the FF franchise, and I decided to go with White Mage initially. A problem I've run into is recognizing debuffs I can cure with Esuna. The group window is small, and I don't know what all the icons are even if I could see them well. I'm going to try enlarging the group window with the HUD utility. That aside, I've had party members tell me I should see a blue line above debuffs that are curable. I've seen screenshots of HUDs with that, but it definitely doesn't appear on my default HUD. Is there a HUD mod for healers anyone would recommend? Now that I'm past level 40, I have more abilities (including solo pet stuff) than can fit on two action toolbars. Can you recommend a setup that will let me display 3 at the same time? My first mmorpg was EQ, and I played an Enchanter (I quit when they completely nerfed charm xp circa OOW expansion). Since that game's general model was group of players beating on one mob until it died, crowd control was a welcome role in groups, and one I enjoyed playing. There was some raid content where the class was pretty much a mana battery, others where it was required for crowd control, and still others where utilizing charm would help a less well geared raid defeat things they otherwise would struggle with. Anyway, I loved the class and role. Of course, if you're going with smaller groups (EQ was 6 iirc, WoW was 5, and I see FF is 4), having a dedicated CC class doesn't make much sense. I guess that's why BLM and WHM both get a sleep spell.

You can make stuff in the HUD larger, including buff/debuff bars. Everything you need for that is under HUD Layout in the esc menu. Once you've selected an element IIRC the gear next to the dropdown is where you go to manipulate that element's settings.

There's a Doom you can only cure by healing the person to max hp, a Doom you can remove with esuna, and a Doom you can only remove by standing in certain areas. The difference between these is 'gently caress you read a guide'. Part of being healer is you are just going to make everyone wipe sometimes because you didn't psychically know you needed a specific role action. The blue line signifying a debuf is cleanseable is part of the stock UI, you cannot turn it off.
