The GOP is going to push tonight HARD. They are going to use this as a way to say to GOP voters "see, don't be scared of Trump, he wants to put this Mr. Serious Guy in charge of everything!" Pence has the kind of temperament that regular GOP people, non-crazy GOP people, like. He comes off as a stern police chief who takes no guff. Who cares if he's full of poo poo.

Pence is drat good at saying a lot without saying much of anything. Kaine's a bit better at actually saying stuff, but he just doesn't have the viciousness to go on the attack against an actual experience politician like Pence is. Dude is just judoing everything Kaine says.

One thing I have to admit: Mike Pence is an absolute master at the specific thing that he does. That thing happens to be "being a huge piece of poo poo and convincing dumb people about things" but it's almost beautiful in that Pence's skillset is the exact right tool for the exact right job at the exact right time. It won't matter but drat.

I dunno, i think they're both doing reasonably well. Kaine is putting emphasis on particular phrases and associations that might linger in the voters mind as well as making Pence do this Mr. Ed flabbergasted thing. Pence is sounding professional and doing the dulcet vocal tones and comforting scared people with the promise of an oasis of safety, law and stability in a way that sounds convincing and well thought-out.
