omfg I hate the future

they announced testament before amon amarth, and with sabaton as headliners. I do love testament and amon amarth but I loving hate sabaton, not to mention the order of the bands is completely upside down (it should have been sabaton before amon amarth before testament)

not sure if im gonna pay to go see that show as I will have to leave early because gently caress sabaton, and testament will be playing in the afternoon :/ wwyd?

i'd prefer it if the bands i wanted to see played earlier, so i dont have to sit through a bands i hate.

the absolute worst is when the lovely band is between two good ones, though.

So apparently the vocalist of Bloodbound, who put out my favorite album of last year, has another project with one of Stratovarius' guitarists and other musicians called ShadowQuest. They put out a new album a couple days ago on Spotify, so far I really enjoy it. Pretty different from both Bloodbound and Strato.

Sabaton has some fantastic energy live. Their music can come across as corny sometimes sure but they def have a good time live. I saw them with Hammerfall a few months ago and was not disappointed.

Oozing machismo
Here's some cool stuff I found on bandcamp.

https://neverreborn.bandcamp.com/album/what-darkness-brings - They call themselves "Dark metal", but in reality its a bit like if you took Heathen, crossed them with 1980s black metal and slowed it down.

https://cruelbomb.bandcamp.com/album/trinity-terror - This is Cruel Bomb. "Cruel Bomb is a three piece thrash metal band from Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania with one goal in mind; bring the hardest and fastest thrash metal to the world." In reality, it is more hardcore/thrash crossover than pure thrash metal. It is good though.

https://hiddenwar.bandcamp.com/album/demon-breed - Hidden War plays some crusty, punk'y thrash metal but with some leads. Good stuff.

Two death metal albums I came across and have been pretty into recently:

Cystic - "Sworn Enemy of Life" I liked their demo a lot so this is cool to see out: https://cystic666.bandcamp.com/album/sworn-enemy-of-life

Berzerker Legion - "Obliterate the Weak" newer band that I liked so far: https://listenable-records.bandcamp.com/album/obliterate-the-weak

I was expecting a little more from Berzerker Legion considering its lineup but it's decent:

quote:

BERZERKER LEGION is Tomas Elofsson (Hypocrisy) , Alwin Zuur (Asphyx), James Stewart (Vader) , Jonny Pettersson (Wombbath) and Fredrik Isaksson (Dark Funeral) .

Pretty slick. It's close enough to the first game that it feels familiar, but he adds just enough to freshen things up.

That groove going on at 18:00 is something I need so much more of. The sound is not brand new, it's been done. I just need more of this specific take on it.

no for real, I skipped to 18:00 and the first thing I thought of was "this sounds like a Korn groove"
