I'm of an age where my younger cousins and nieces and nephews are having kids. My cousin of the same age as me has a boy named Colton and a daughter named Alaina, perfectly reasonable, since my cousin's name is Alan and "Alaina" is basically "Alan Jr. but a girl." Alan's little sister named her kid Jonah (after I vetoed Jackson/Jax, because it's a stupid trendy thing, I don't care how hot Charlie Hunnam is), and my younger niece named hers Landon. A bit old-fashioned, but decent enough. My older nephew, though, just fathered a child named Brynlie. That's right up there with Madysyn, innit? In that it ain't a fuckin' name?

Girl at work is named Neosha. In casual conversation she mentions to me that she was almost named Meosha. I tell her that name is silly, and Neosha is way better (trying to make her feel better). She tells me that her cousin is named Meosha and gets a look on her face like I'm a jerk.

Bumped into two this morning. First one's not too bad apart from falling into the "everyone this kid ever speaks with will need her to spell it for them at least once" category. Tinlee Second one has the same problem as the first with the addition of an "Uncreativity Y" Cambriya

I met a kid named Revan. His parents are big nerds and I'm 98% sure they named him after the Darth Revan character in Knights of the Old Republic. That's ticking two boxes: Star Wars and video games.

If it makes you feel any better (worse) I know a 3-year-old Revan who is absolutely named after the KOTOR character and his parents have zero shame about it. Then again, I worked with 600 WoW nerds for seven years, Revan is far from the bottom of the barrel of dorky children's names I saw at work.

I kinda have to wonder what it's gonna be like for these Revan kids growing up, because they're inevitably going to hear about Star Wars and how the character that they're named after isn't even considered canon anymore. Well, at least they should have the opportunity to play the KotOR games when they're old enough and get a glimpse of the zany fictional universe that spawned their name thanks to services like Steam and Good Old Games keeping those games available and updated enough to be playable on modern computers. Whether the mods needed to make KotOR 2 actually playable will still be getting updates to be compatible with computers by then, well, only time will tell.

Kentavious and Quintavious. I just imagine the cops being really confused while trying to take a statement, since one of them is the person who was renting the apartment when the attack happened and the other was one of the assailants. http://www.wsbtv.com/news/news/local/teen-recovering-after-being-scalded-hot-rice/nk2yL/

More a terrible/great interpretation of a name (as well as a silly name change) but - in my past life as a tailor I had a colleague who had changed her name from Sue to Sioux. Our owner was Japanese and he insisted on calling her "Sea Ox." He also thought the song "Roxanne" was about sand made from rocks, so it was kind of bound to happen.
