Crews responded to the Devon Tower in downtown Oklahoma City at around 7:45 a.m. local time.

The Oklahoma City Fire department was able to secure the basket as of 8:25 a.m., and the two window washers were safe by 8:49 a.m.

i go to MICA in baltimore and overall the sculpture department is a great place to be and there's a really good emphasis placed on safety and following correct procedures/regulations so all these stories are really just dumb students who tried doing something without asking for help

there was this one time a freshman came in to the wood shop carrying a ~6 inch wood sphere they must have gotten somewhere. i didnt think anything of it because i figured they were gonna carve it or something. all of a sudden i heard the shop tech going holy poo poo what are you doing really loudly and i looked over and saw them trying to cut the sphere on the milling bandsaw just by holding it and guiding with their hands. thank god the tech stopped them too because they way they were holding it they would have lost a thumb if it caught on the bandsaw and pivoted

same wood shop, a freshman came in and started grinding a piece of metal on the disc sander that currently had a pile of sawdust underneath it, shooting a shower of sparks directly into the sawdust pile causing it to catch on fire. it was all good tho since someone immediately ran over with a fire extinguisher. apparently the person doing it somehow didnt realize that our school has a metal shop even though it comprises an entire building just down the street (i later found out they were an illustration major which sort of explains that)

my sophomore year in intro to metal fabrication, my professor told a story when he was demoing how to use a plasma cutter where when he was in undergrad (same college) his professor pressed the nozzle to his hand and apparently didnt realize he was completing the circuit when he was explaining how the machine needed a circuit to start cutting. said professor apparently has a perfect circular scar in the center of his palm now and problems using his left hand.

the same professor also said that when he was in undergrad a girl tried casting her arm in a plaster that gets extremely hot. she ended up getting third degree burns and needed skin grafts on her arm

ive got more if anyone is curious

This was my experience in "2D/3D Studio Art for Non-Art-Majors" at a state university. I'm #blessed to have bad vision, because someone trying to cut some unspecified poo poo with a Dremel cutting disc across the table from me had the disc explode and part of it ended up embedded in the left lens of my glasses. Luckily, his parents were rich and chill and paid for my replacement glasses.

These were not safety glasses. They're just the ones I wear to be able to, y'know, not be legally blind.

Dude also used to use spray glue in the stairwell and not in the fume room.

If he's not dead by now, he's definitely gonna die of some gross chemical lung disease before he's 50.

If you somehow knew you were going to live, that looks fun. You wouldn't know that of course so every moment would be a living nightmare. You know, fine lines and all that. Pretty sure we all know what the brown stuff in the bucket was after a few minutes of that action.

The test squeezes show you which direction the drill bit is turning so you don't spend 5 minutes drilling a small pilot hole with the drill in reverse. Hypothetically.
