quote:

An Alberta man accused of abusing his three daughters is facing 23 sex charges, including incest and procurement of a child for sex, and 17 weapon charges.

The 41-year-old man, from a small town west of Edmonton, was arrested in November, the internet child exploitation unit of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) said Friday.

quote:

The girls were isolated from contact with the outside world, Camp said. The family home-schooled and the rural property was like a "compound," police said.

Police seized about 40 restricted handguns and rifles, along with a machine-gun and a dozen prohibited devices, when the property was searched in November.

The 17 firearm charges include careless storage, unauthorized possession, and possession of prohibited devices.

Two other children, both boys, lived in the home, as did the children's mother, Camp said. He said the mother was also a victim in the case, and that she didn't know what the father was doing with the girls.

The investigation involving the RCMP, Edmonton Police Service, Child and Family Services, Zebra Child Protection Centre, and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection, began in mid-October.

No but you see if I cant drive my F-150 into the heart of downtown and park directly in front of the shop i'd like to patronize then it's literally inaccessible to me and basically discrimination. It's crazy -- I worked for a shop that offered one hour of free parking in a parkade that was less than half a block away, and literally no one took advantage of it. Yet the store owner still blames the bike path for hurting his business -- no, it's not the path's fault, it's your moron customers' fault.

Bikes don't follow the rules or pay gas tax they should need licenses and insurance and pay a bike tax or be banned from the roads!!!! Also this one time, this loving one time, I saw, I swear to loving god, I saw a cyclist only slow down and coast at a stop sign. But it removes parking and sometimes a lane of traffic!

I've made peace with the bike paths in downtown Calgary now, fully, but the lane reversal to help commuters on 5th Avenue can go gently caress itself violently and repeatedly. That should have stayed one-way, and instead of putting two opposite-direction lanes on it, they should have just taken one lane and turned it into a bike path.

Every morning I walk through the intersection at Ontario and E. 8th (https://goo.gl/maps/Kga4Yn4iFW92), right next to the lol hootsuite building. Ontario is one of the busiest bikeways in Vancouver. At the beginning of the year the city put a crosswalk in, presumably to make cyclists take notice of pedestrians and loving stop.

For the most part it's worked but at least half the time, some loving rear end in a top hat on a time trial in his mind will blow right through the crosswalk. Cyclists are loving idiots because vancouverites are loving idiots.

In a related anecdote, a random elderly lady followed a coworker of mine into the office this morning yelling at her about driving too fast down the road on the way in. The lady literally parked her huge truck directly in front of reception and stormed in to a quiet professional office to let loose a tirade before being kicked out by our office admin. Depends on the cyclist and the path. Is it just cyclists or a multi use path? I'd much rather hold up a driver by doing 35kmh on Wellington than do that same speed on the MUP beside it and risk killing a pedestrian.

I checked that out a couple weekends back, it's not actually done yet so it stops and starts really awkwardly where roads cross it, and there are speed blocker things. It would be nice to take kids on for a cruise but not really suitable for commuting or road biking in its current state.

Multi use, but it's cycling on one side and walking on the other. Separate lanes, no mixed traffic.
