Do you think that I posted those shoes because they are good shoes for a good price, suggesting that people should buy them and not because they are ugly, expensive pieces of poo poo for total morons? Is that what you think?

I am buying a bunch of crazy socks off Ali for a friend of mine for Christmas. Here's hoping $1/pair socks from China don't turn out to be made out of 90% plastic like some of the shirts people here have received :ohdear:

On the plus side, if they turn out to be garbage I'll have wasted less than :10bux: total

Epacket? I'd wager 50/50.

If the seller actually has what they're selling and ships your item the next day (instead of diddling for 3 days, making a shipping label, then dallying for another week trying to get the thing themselves before finally posting it) and they live in a fairly major shipping hub, then epacket can, in theory, be as quick as 10 days. Three weeks is much more normal.

All of the crazy socks I've purchased have been made of normal sock material! But if they're labeled women's socks, then be careful, because they run small.

my epacket took 16 (17?) days to get here (ordered nov 20, arrived dec 6). the nice thing is that you can track epackets through USPS's website and that updates well before the tracking on aliexpress does, and it gave me an estimated delivery date.

Rule #1: Never buy stuff that's on sale because that's when everything is at their most expensive. Also if you find something you like, don't buy from the first seller; scroll down to see the exact same item for sale for (probably) a lower price at another seller.

May 2, 2008

If the seller has it as an option, you can pick where the item ships from. My little greenhouse kit shipped from the us and got here in California qithin a week or so. I don't know how rare that option is is, but you can always check.

Rule 2: check the reviews for photos and or complaints of item never arriving or being poorly made. Don't buy if there is no seller photos of the items.
Also, mild disclaimer, but there can be nudity in reviewer photos for some of the more risque products. :v: I hadn't realized that.

Considering almost every product on Ali is being resold by over a dozen sellers, it's usually worth the extra buck or so to go with a listing that has at least one positive review with photos.

So, I tried Wish.com because I wanted to see if was any faster as they don't have free postage, and.. not really. I bought three items at the beginning of November, and I got my first package two weeks later. Good start, but the second one arrived last Friday and the last one is still in transit between China and Finland. I'll be surprised if it gets here before New Year :p

I bought a bunch of that thick wool from three different vendors and will post reviews/comparisons when it arrives!

I also just received a set of exercise bands at one third the price they were on Amazon. The quality is excellent. I'll post a link tomorrow when I'm at my computer.

Except when it's 10% silicone, 90% cadmium or some poo poo.
That's a slight exaggeration, but seriously, don't buy jewellery, catering supplies or sex toys directly from China unless you enjoy heavy-metal poisoning.
Legitimate importers have to run samples of every shipment through a mass spectrometer for a reason.
