The album is perfectly pleasant but shoegaze in general is dull as dirt to me so the album didn’t do much for me. Deafheaven have always been a Screamo band at heart so it reminded me of when Pianos Become the Teeth dropped their heavy elements, except they had more hooks.

Any recommendations for some heavy stoner metal with no vocals and, ideally, some sick guitar solos? The closest I can find to what I'm after is Belzebong, who rule but are still a little lighter on solos than I'd wish for.

It's not really stoner metal, and isn't solo-heavy first and foremost, and also has SOME vocals, BUT: check out Keelhaul. They're really good
