She designed the game for an art show back in 2014 as a direct response to the travesty that was Tentacle Bento, and as an indirect response to the general lovely portrayal of sex in games as a whole. So this weird-rear end thing has a pedigree.

I kinda wanna back it just for that but it's kind of hard to justify spending 30 bucks on a weird game I'll probably never play.

MollyMetroid posted:Tentacle Bento turned out to be gin rummy with slightly suggestive art. It's not pornographic at all. The issue wasn't whether or not it was explicitly pornographic, but had more to do with the unpleasant implications of the game's premise in the light of anime's sordid history. The fact that it was relatively sanitized did not actually help its case. Alien Rope Burn fucked around with this message at 05:56 on Sep 7, 2017 |

Just saw this - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/278128858/zero-gravity-a-magnetic-miniatures-game?ref=6mlpne Looks to be yet another pile o' minis board game, but at least it has the gimmick of a 3d board and magnetic bases. However I suspect it'll be rather impractical to move any minis on the 'ceiling' of the board.

The Printable Scenery guy has another KS up for Rampage Gothic, which is a kind of eclectic mix of awesome sci-fi industrial terrain, gothic Dracula castles, dwarf halls, Diablo 2 necromancer skull town, xenomorph eggs, and saarlac / graboid pits. The industrial stuff looks amazing and looks perfect for Necromunda / SWA / Infinity.

I'm backing it because it's a cool piece of design and it's interesting as a game that is explicitly about something.

All right I have been convinced. Edit: Also the videogaming kickstarter thread is having a bit of a shitfit over the game's existence, so I feel like that needs to be supported. graventy fucked around with this message at 22:23 on Sep 7, 2017 |

Consentacle looks pretty interesting, and I definitely respect that it's a game about sex that is reasonably non-coy and also about sex as an act of affection and trust, rather than violence or power, but... it's the stupidest complaint in the world, but I'm having a really hard time getting past the art for the alien. It's an octopus with an anime face slapped on. It's well-rendered, but I find it very off-putting.

Quixotic1 posted:Grail Games put up Reiner Knizia's Stephenson's Rocket on kickstarter IIRC the best comparison might be classic Acquire, with forced mergers of the on-board companies when their tracks meet. It's not really about company management or stockmarket play like 18xxs to my understanding are - company stocks are a used as bidding resource to veto other players' actions on that company, and in the end to reward biggest owners of the surviving companies. To my understanding it's a well regarded Knizia, if not at the Tigris & Euphrates or Ra level, with mostly the availability having been the issue for it for a long time. Edit: Might have to actually back this, especially as it looks like they'll make the 60k stretch and still have the SUPERIOR wooden trains as alternative to plastic silliness! There's always the fact that one of the stretch goals is one of the existing minis with a bullhorn added. That's what you get when you forget to hold back content for stretch goals, I suppose...

It's something you see a lot more as an outright fetish in Japanese media, so it could be cargo culting out of that.
