Not sure if this was already mentioned, but a bunch of people were seriously hurt at a metal gig after a roof collapsed on them a few weeks ago and need help with medical costs.

Have any of you seen this Gamazda woman's Metallica piano covers on YouTube? She has several and they're insanely impressive to me. Her coordination is just out of this world. She's playing the parts of multiple different instruments on piano here and it's wild.

Got around to listening to 72 seasons and im not sure if Lars is the worst member of the band anymore because Kirk sounds absolutely washed. Album itself is a slightly worse hardwired and has the same problem, 45 minutes of filler and 25-30 minutes of solid stuff. Also cant help but hear the bret hart entrance music riff over and over again in inamorata. Ill give it another spin or two but other than lux i cant remember any other song i felt like i had to listen to again.

Obituary is doing a live concert stream of their latest album today at 4pm EST.

https://obituarylive.com/

It's a pretty good album, so set your alarms or something!

poo poo, it's not free. Well, you can buy tix for it I guess?

My local metal store (The Door) which couldn't be part of record store day because he's not open 5 days a week, had their own Record Door Day. He put up all kinds of specials, moved excess inventory at cost, and had ticket raffles and free empanadas all day long. It was rad. Picked up a Bolt Thrower and Sleep LP because it's loving Bolt Thrower and Sleep.

i ended up relistening to some wintersun stuff and thinking "yeah atavistia kind of leans on black metal-esque tremolo picking a lot more than jari" so early dimmu is a good shout

The vocals and song structure are extremely wintersun while the underlying guitar parts and vibe just felt like dimmu borgir.

I somehow like it a lot.

This came out a little bit ago (thanks nazzadan) and I've really enjoy it. The second song is my kinda poo poo where there's a d beat with some fancy open chord type riffs. The guitar and drum tone reminds me of sunami but with a fat snare instead of the picolo.

Hardwired was a solid first disc and then unmemorable second disc. In contrast 72 seasons was good in the last part.
Main problem with 72 seasons was the lack of variation, most of the songs sounded the same.

Its verging on as generic Napalm Records stock PM gets but it’s fine enough and on record Thomas is still a pretty fun vocalist.

THE TAIL THAT BURNS TWICE AS BRIGHT...

Yeah it's basically "i wanted to hear him sing goofy lyrics" and he's a fun studio vocalist for sure.

He seemed okay on the couple videos of the same performance of master of the universe that i saw on youtube but standard show to show variance and it's harder to tell on a phone video caveats apply on that

Atheist and Cynic are touring together to celebrate their early 90s material. No idea what Cynic looks like these days (I have also seen the classic lineup play Focus before) but Atheist exclusively playing the original three albums is extremely enticing.

Whatup metalgoons? Haven’t posted here in a sec, but thought I’d toss y’all some stuff that’s good. Gonna guess y’all know about some of it already but eh.

These guys are weird and cool and sorta atonal and obtuse, and always interesting. None of theirs have proper hit for me until this one, but I’m glad it came out well.

https://youtube.com/watch?v=Ft_3vuhE8B4&feature=share

This needs no intro. If you haven’t heard it, do so.

https://youtu.be/K2xN_0ajnlw

Ripping of another sort entirely. I quite liked Homestead, their first record, and while I was kinda surprised at the direction this one took, I think it’s an interesting way for them to go. Sorta psychadelia plus Queen plus Muse plus High on Fire? Hard to describe, varied and cool, though I think I’m a little less pumped as compared to the critical reception.

https://youtu.be/m9Vmev_D4ro

I didn’t realize Yakuza were still around and when I saw they dropped a single I had to go back and visit this pure fuckin classic. Weird without being weird for its own sake, used a sax better than Cephallic Carnage did lol. No shade on CC, I like them too.

Conjuror is breaking through with good reason, but this is probably my favorite thing they have done. Bout to go see them with Khemmis this friday and am pumped as gently caress.
