They had what amounted to concentration camps for Indian kids for about a century in the form of residential schools, and until the 60s indians could not leave the reserve without a pass from the government. Well when Disneyland was built Anaheim wasn't that big but it had a population surge soon after. Walt didn't like that if you went up on the matterhorn you could see the express way, felt it killed the magic. So when he built Disney world he wanted one on the east coast since he noticed less than 20% of Disneyland guests came from east of the Mississippi. The local government of Buena Vista wasn't too keen on it so they said no. So he formed some shell companies to buy the land and sell it back to himself. In essence freep might hate Disney the company but Walt is exactly the kind of pure American born capitalist Uber mensch they adore.
