also snagged tickets for dethklok and babymetal in september which will be awesome.

I really wish I would’ve caught that when it was in Tampa.

My favorite Manowar joke is in Kings of Metal when they write a really stupid song about how hard and heavy they are and then follow it up on the album with a bass solo and two ballads.

Fighting the world, their album which is noticeably cleaner and more commercial than their 4 first (which are still amazing btw) has a bunch of songs about not selling out

Possibly the lamest lyric I've ever heard. And it's the chorus.

Anything beat this for lameness?

It wouldnt be bad if it wasn’t sung in Metallica’s brand of seriousness

Ayreon is a guilty pleasure, but these lyrics are the cringiest poo poo I've ever heard

quote:

I hugged the wife and drove to work today
It was only a few miles
Was in a hurry but the lights were changing up ahead
So I stepped on the gas
I checked the Mac and left it on over night
Downloading all the latest files
Peer-to-peer, the torrent flows into my lap
And I disconnect
(...)
I rushed back home to my family
I got my son a brand new game
No need to cook, I picked up fast food on the way
And it's finger-licking good
Have you seen little Steve today?
Guess he's still up there in his room
But if he comes down tell him
I'll be right here just staring at the tube
Playing his game

There's a song on the lone album by the early '90s underground band Babylon Sad with multiple spoken word segments where the vocalist, in a thick Swiss accent, says:

quote:

I have decided and I think I should become a homosexual
Murder and shall get hold of young boys and bring
Them here where I am staying and I shall rape them and then
Kill them, I should not kill all the boys in the same way

Yeah Ayreon is the king of the cheesiest cringe.
But probably my "favorite" awful rear end lyrics are in Dream Theater's The Count of Tuscany. I actually like the music and composition, it flows nicely, has some pretty sections and has a nice build-up to the climax but the story of the song is so, so lame and I feel actual second hand embarrassment listening to it. I can't even describe what makes it so awful for me, since more often than not metal has lovely lyrics but this song just hits some nerve.
Even though I like the music, I haven't listened to anything they have released since then and I can only imagine the amount of poo poo they've been putting out because the wheels were already coming off at this point.

This just reminded me of the guy that showed up to a small guitar forum I'm on, acted like a huge rear end in a top hat because nobody liked his lovely microtonal death metal, then made an I'm Leaving thread. Said thread included a SoundCloud link to a diss track about the other posters on that forum.

There's a Conception lyric that says, and I quote, "Black people make you feel unsafe."

It's also in a nylon flamenco ballad which makes it even more hilarious / perplexing.

I've just suffered a Randy Marsh moment bc obviously I never read the liner notes and Norwegian accents are too thick.
