Spanish Manlove posted:That's a fun thing called "hyperacusis" which is a murky term for "loud sounds now hurt". It's basically due to the high frequency parts of the compressor in your inner ear getting blown out by abuse Well the good news is those concerts I did the damage at were not worth it, so at least I got nothing out of it!

hey, who wants some cool death metal from Malaysia? I found these fellas the other day https://humiliationosdm.bandcamp.com/ and considering they've been around since 2009 and have a whole bunch of albums out, I'm surprised I never came across them earlier. Its just nice chunky mid-paced death metal.

Dying Fetus just played FYA Fest — it's been a lot of fun seeing battle vest dudes getting all up in arms about hardcore kids windmilling to death metal on Twitter over the weekend: https://twitter.com/SUPLEXClTYBITCH/status/1743840133659402682 https://twitter.com/equimanthorn_/status/1744107441107947682 https://twitter.com/petexnasty/status/1743899673205608687 https://twitter.com/ueda__sh/status/1687659698668072960 https://twitter.com/verybadbread/status/1687860641368080384 Eight Is Legend fucked around with this message at 10:04 on Jan 8, 2024 |

edit: "Europeans think moshing is doing what the guy in the red hat is doing lol" is loving killing me holy poo poo i see a lot of hardcore show videos on instagram and the comments are ALWAYS filled with people complaining that it looks stupid. they get annoyed and say it's not "real" moshing, but not once ever ever ever has any one of the complainers brought up what they actually think "real" moshing is supposed to be. i've been going to hardcore shows for 20+ years. spinkicks and windmills are what i grew up with, but i can acknowledge that it is kinda silly out of context. hell even IN context it's silly. but imagine being really serious about disliking that form of dancing and being like "NO!!! YOU MUST ONLY BE SHIRTLESS AND SOAKED IN BEER AND VIOLENTLY BUMP INTO EACH OTHER! ANYTHING ELSE IS PUSSY poo poo FOR WANNABE TOUGH GUY PUSSY TEENAGERS!"

You're right, jumping around and bumping into eachother with some bros is a lot lamer and less fun than getting my jawbone snapped in half by some mall ninja's steel capped Doc Marten
|
# ? Jan 8, 2024 11:24 |

tell that to the instagram "trve" metal moshers who are the only ones who know what real pits are. also, dude, you can't spinkick in heavy rear end doc martens get real. skateboard sneakers or sambas or similar only.

# ? Jan 8, 2024 12:04 |

the leg extension-flailing fist technique looks exactly like Hardcore people moshing LOL With their cool little trendy brand hoodies and shirts doing some sort of violent robotic dance, and they give you sidelooks if you headbang like a normal person like "that poo poo dont fly here bro, our culture is different from yours"

I always see a bunch of people talking about how at real metal shows it’s all about helping people up who get knocked down… without realizing the exact same thing happens at hardcore shows too. Didn’t do FYA this year, but went last year. Solid weekend and still don’t fit into any of the shirts I bought. Dammit.

I don't care if you spin kick each other in the middle of the pit, it's the assholes that want to kick the people on the edge of the pit that piss me off. If I can catch one of them before they get to the edge of the pit I'll just put my head down and run straight into them.

In Turkey moshing rules are simple. Non-moshers push the moshers back to the pit if they get too close. No slamming, only shoulder dashing other shoulders while holding on to your arm. except for this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vfbl-PgJIa0 Helluva fucked around with this message at 15:27 on Jan 8, 2024 |

Personally not a fan of the ninja kicks and stuff. It moves from people banging and shoving to straight up violence in the pit. With tons using it as an excuse to let out their anger issues on other people under the disguise of "the hardcore way".

I always thought that moshing was just bumping into each other and jumping up and down +/- circle pit or wall of death. The spinkicks and windmilling nonsense was always a bit for the straight edge / hxc crowd.
