AJPW, the promotion that can't even sell out Korakuen for a world title match, is running Ryogoku in November for some reason. Akiyama seems to have been a pretty sensible president thus far so either they have something big planned or he's gone crazy. Wondering if it might involve the rumors of the NJPW old guys showing up there.

This was supposed to be Miyahara's year, culminating in him winning the TC for the first time, but it's too soon and Zeus isn't the guy to beat to win it. On the other hand Zeus is nowhere near champion material. I didn't understand the decision to have Suwama beat Akiyama for the title and I really don't understand why they don't just do Akiyama vs. Miyahara and have him win the belt back again now. Definitely going to make my best effort into attending any tribute show they will put on. All companies across Japan will definitely have a memorial opening for him as is custom. However, a proper tribute show can be expected to be put on by multiple promotions. A NJPW-Dragon Gate-FMW alumni type of show of sorts. oatgan posted:new japan is doing a super j cup this year... Hayabusa got every right note for me at age 13 and he always ruled. He had a cool mask, a cool theme, and invented the Phoenix splash. He ruled hard.

Wrestle in peace, Ezaki-sama. He was my favorite japanese high flyer when I discovered the nerdy world of tape trading during the early days of the internet, and he opened my eyes to the crazier side of wrestling. He was just so loving cool and I will forever remain a mark for Hayabusa/H/Darkside 'busa  Excuse me, I now need to search for that white satin pro grade Hayabusa mask I payed WAAAAY too much for on Highspots 16 years ago and stick a firecracker up my rear end in his honor.

One of my favorite "Vince McMahon decides to be nice" stories has to be him inviting Hayabusa to a Wrestlemania, putting him up in a luxury box, and then hearing afterwards that Hayabusa had a great time and totally pigged out on junk food  . Vince, to my knowledge, basically did this after hearing offhand about the incident that put him in his chair. RIP to a genuine loving trailblazer.
