I mean for a duke reinvisioning its not that hard. Hes a badass who quotes movies and loves oprah, so like, just keep that. You just adjust his movie profile a little so its more recent and a slightly wider spread of films and make him a slightly more modern badass which means he doesnt chomp cigars but loves loving with enthusiastic consent. Nothing about dukes core character traits are irredeemable*, but as a pastiche of culture has to change with it or get left behind. *Duke Nukem Forever excluded

Yeah I'm not sure how you can reboot Duke without losing the 90s testosterone poisoning. Then again, the Shadow Warrior reboots changed Lo-Wang from a dirty old racist man to a comicbook obsessed nerd, so it's possible.

So yea, no wonder when it was finally released in 2011 it flopped hard. I played maybe an hour of it and was left unimpressed and bored.
