So I haven't used my grill since for months and the grates or whatever are covered in mold or mildew. I turned the grill on as hot as it gets and let it cook it for a good long while and then scrubbed it all off. Should I just buy new grates? Knowing that poo poo grew on my grill just makes me nervous to cook food on it

To whoever was asking about a laptop: call your school and ask what they recommend. Many programs use specific (and often proprietary) software and apps, or provide you with academic software they want you to use. Even if it's 'any PC should work,' that's almost never the case, and minimizing the hassle of finding out that your new Surface won't run some stupid graphing program or whatever is worth spending thirty minutes on the phone with a tech support guy from the school. It's even worth crossing the PC/Mac divide.

Get that ThinkPad. You can find specced up versions of the older models for much cheaper than whatever the newest ones are. Even old ThinkPads are excellent machines.

If you get a pro try to get one under warranty, or check it out thorougly, assuming you don't go new. I always do Craigslist roulette which I've really never had an issue with Replacing mine at the store was $450 though lmao. Repairs aren't an option, and a screen replacement is the same I think, you just swap it for a new one and pay that. But mine (top specs, 256gb) is still $1,600 new outside of a sale The dude hooked me up some discount idk what but it was $350. I did tell him all the small issues I had with it Also the battery life is atrocious. Honestly I'd probably try to find a SP3 with good specs used. Get the surface pro 4 type cover, which is great. Could probably find one for $600-800 Other than that it's nice

A laptop is insanely convenient for school. I thought the same as you until I got a laptop my Junior year, now I don't know what I'd do without it. It's not about special software or anything, it's about just being able to sit down with anyone anywhere and do group work, and print something on the school network without waiting 10 minutes to log in to some slow-rear end library computer, and do homework during class, and on and on

Oh yeah I'm well aware. I used a MacBook for undergrad. Sold it early last year thinking grad school was a ways off in the distance. I miss school and GI Bill money.

I am supposed to get (submitted it last week) +$5/hr extra from my base pay, which is reduced in training, so $24/hr for 7 months. Then I go on probation and receive less so it'll probably be 2 years before I make that again

Depends a lot on circumstance. I was drinking in the mornings a lot and it was bad news all round. If it's like a boys weekend that's a bit different but if it's a regular occurrence on your own, well... it's not great.

It's pretty new, I don't usually have beer in my fridge in the morning and my pantry/fridge was empty because I just got back from Yakima and I tossed everything out before I left. Had beer left over because I went to bed pretty early since I had been awake since like 3 am.
