Here's an idea I just pulled out of my rear end with zero thought behind it regarding Uber Jason...

I think he'll be tied to the "X Map" the one set on the Grendel. Like, no matter what Jason you're playing as on that level there'll be a one-shot bazookoid style weapon that will knock Jason down (as in, blow his head the gently caress off) and nanites will then re-form him giving him that boost you mentioned. Maybe throw him into rage mode immediately if it happens before the ten minute mark.

There's a risk-reward system there then, because the gun has to charge up, but it'll knock Jason down for a set amount of time.

This is now canon in my mind and I can't wait to be disappointed when it doesn't happen.

Also looking at Part 8 Jason in that screenshot from that article, it will never not bug me that Jason changes his loving mask every single movie. It's never the same mask and yet it's supposed to be the same one with the same damage from movie-to-movie. The knife cut is still there on the top but it's completely different otherwise.

And me being the big horror dork I am, the other day I made me a Part 3 Jason mask from a cheap $7 Halloween hockey mask:

I think it looks pretty good considering it only cost me $12 (including chevron stencils from here: https://www.jdfstudios.com/) and 30 minutes of actual work.

Where did you find a mask with snaps? All the masks around me are cheap ones with like sliders and only two spots.

If you can't find a mask with snaps, you can go to absolutely any arts and crafts / fabric store and get a straps of faux-leather for a few bucks and snaps of all sizes for practically nothing.

Let's turn this into an arts and crafts thread

I got it from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=jason+hockey+mask There are a ton of colors and varieties, I'd say the best bet is to get the plain white one if you want to dote it up yourself, otherwise the dirty yellowed one would probably be fine just as a cheapie for a last-minute costume.

I got a yellowed one because I wasn't 100% certain I wanted to bother making my own. But then I went ahead with it, and sandpapered off as much of the cheap paint as possible, then spraypainted it matte almond. Then the chevron stencils and red matte acrylic, then re scratched everything with some sandpaper including some worn-off areas around the eyes and under the nose and along some edges. Then I applied some brown stain, kinda making it look patchy and naturally aged, and finally some dry black acrylic to make it look used in an actual hockey game with scuff marks.

e: If you really want to get weird with it, jdfstudios.com (where I got the chevron stencils) also sells movie-accurate replica straps complete with the snap studs. You have to have a tool for snapping the studs on though, and the plastic masks I linked are really thin, cheap plastic so you might not want to go that route.

Wait does Stalk really turn off the screen glitch effect when Jason morphs/shifts? I've been activating stalk, then morphing to the same spot to simulate the music going away right as it glitches to make people think I morphed away :( I've caught a ton of people doing that so apparently not everyone's thought that hard about it, but that still sucks to waste the morph when it didn't do anything

Speaking of stalk I forget which Jason I was, but I stood outside a cabin for what felt like 5 minutes with it turned on and the dude inside wouldn't come out. So when i (eventually) wore off I had to storm in and he goes, "I KNEW IT! gently caress YOU JASON!" Pretty funny and also kudos for him calling my bluff.

And no, he wasn't the last dude alive or anything.

I really want a video or something explaining exactly how Stalk works, what it does from the counselor's point of view, etc. I'm always afraid to use it outside of stopping cars because I don't know exactly if it's fooling anybody. And yeah, I've also had a guy gently caress with me over mic like "Yeah, nice stalk I still know you're there!".

A breakdown of exactly what it silences and what counselors can and can't hear when it's active would be nice. There was an in-depth video on "how to use it" on Youtube but it still didn't quite cover what the counselor hears or sees.

NOTHING about stalk has changed except that when you turn it on it now does the VHS tracking effect to simulate you morphing out.

Even gods.

Stalk silences music as long as the counselors aren't able to see you on their screen. Anyone who can actually see you, they hear the music. It does not silence your footsteps or any sounds of you doing things like breaking windows or power boxes or whatever, so be aware that it's not just a 100% invisible mode. If they're listening they'll know you're still there.

I find it's more useful for approaching someone than it is for 'leaving' and catching them off-guard when it turns out you didn't leave. But there's lots of ways to use it, it depends on the players you're up against. Sometimes I can just hit it while I'm chasing someone and they'll just drop to a jog or whatever and assume I left, so I can walk right up to them from behind. That's always fun.

Okay, so... I didn't know it ever "changed" at any point. So as of right now, what happens from the counselors' ends when you press Stalk is that they see the static effect and then silence? So I guess you shouldn't use Morph or Stalk right afterwards (or before) or it'll be really obvious what you're doing.

The proper way to use it then would be to stand a ways away, maybe wait until a counselor is going into a cabin with an already open/broken door, then with Stalk on Shift into the cabin ahead of them so while they might see the static, you'll be right the gently caress on top of them when they don't expect it. So basically use the car stalk maneuver but minus the car.

Coolguye

There's a few ways to use Stalk. Hanging out just around the corner from a cabin and turning it on can encourage someone to leave their cabin. Hanging out in a cabin with it on can work. Hanging out near a car and waiting for someone to come along to try to fix it can work. Worth noting that even when the VHS tracking effects show up from you morphing/shifting the music still doesn't go, so if someone is preoccupied (by, for example, doing stuff to a car), they might not react immediately to static. If you're shifting in from an observation spot that can be all the time you need to be right up next to them.

It's changed several times, actually - at least since I've started playing in late June. Initially, it would trigger this unique sound effect that sounded something like when you turn your head to one side when you had some water in your ear. At which point the only time you could get any mileage out of it was by using it before Morphing somewhere.

Then it was changed to do the VCR tracking effect as though you'd morphed elsewhere. Probably the best implementation of the ability.

Now it seems to just drop the music out entirely? I mean, drop all music of any kind - even what you'd here when he's not around. Makes it rather pointless as it definitely indicates that Jason's near and makes it easy to hear his footsteps. I don't think this is intended, but with this game it's hard to tell what's a bug or what's intended sometimes.

It's how her species communicates

Catching people with stalk is literally the best. I stalked outside the boat house with Jason 3 and watched just off to the side as three counselors dicked around inside. Eventually they tried to leave using the door I was standing at and I used the non combat side swing to catch the first guy out. He froze in the door and couldn't back up because his buddies were right behind him. Killed all three in a pretty great little massacre that involved a lot of screaming.

Fun Shoe
Yea there's really nothing in the game as fun as catching a counselor unaware using Stalk, especially when they're using a mic and you get to hear them scream.

Best thing is when you see a counselor off in the distance but they don't really realize you're on their tail, sometimes you can hit Stalk and then Shift in behind them right as they're opening the door to a cabin. So what happens is you pop in right behind them as their in the animation to close the door, effectively trapping themselves and ensuring a very high pitched yelp when they turn around. Tough to pull off but it's the kind of thing that keeps me playing this game.

Drunken Baker

I brought this up before about Stalk, but I never know what the distance is where the music will kick in for the counsellors. Like, if they hear my music and then it vanishes they'll know what's up. So if I'm drawing up behind someone I never know WHEN to activate stalk. If you get me?

So I usually do the stalk/shift combo like others have talked about. But I like to keep shift for emergencies.

Yeah, that's fixed. So you can use perks that give items in any slot.

Played for a few hours today. Some new bugs I've encountered so far.

Jason

He breaks out of stuns CRAZY fast now. Apparently there was a bug in the past that caused his stuns to last twice as long but now they seem to be half of the intended length.

Counselors

It seems that the Luck stat is bugged to be the reverse of the indicated amount. This means that weapons break on the first / second hit with Chad and last for an age on Buggzy. If you want to take a beating to Jason - at least until there's a hotfix - pick a low Luck character.
