Those aren't frame drops, those are single-frame freezes for "impact" when you kill an enemy.
Enter the Gungeon does the same thing. It lets you know when to stop shooting, and makes the kills have more punch to them. But Enter the Gungeon is smart enough to not let it proc for every single enemy in a short time span, because it looks like poo poo.

So, every now and then I still get suckered into click bait links on facebook because I'm a big loser. Lately these ad festooned pages have evolved from the slideshow egregiousness, and now often on mobile versions force you to move between pages mid-sentence. They're that desperate for page views of their precious ad space. It really makes me wonder how much they gain per single click, and how much their page views aren't resulting in those ad clicks, if they have to now up the bombardment so much.

No poo poo, but I already said that much. That's why he said "yes, no, yes".

And then he cut the context out of another thing I said in bad faith, which completely changed its meaning, so of course the answer to that one was "no", but that wasn't what I said.

If you think Capcom can sue Might Number 5 you should call them up and offer them your lawyer services, but you're completely wrong.

The clickbait market has become saturated to the point where these sites are just making the most profit they possibly can before it all completely dies. The whole clickbait thing is being very quickly replaced with video tutorials now (think "Tasty" where you can make a delicious meal very quickly provided you take the time to sort two dozen ingredients into individual bowls). It won't be too long before nobody bothers with clickbait - even Buzzfeed are repositioning themselves as a legit news outlet, apparently without a hint of irony - and LadBible are just endlessly rehashing Reddit threads.

To be honest I only wrote this reply to bitch about Tasty. I'd wager that for every person who actually used one of their recipes there's several more who clicked through to their site and ended up giving them ad revenue. Which is presumably their plan anyway.

The guy I know who backed the kickstarter really, reaaaaaally does want another Mega Man game. He still replays the old ones periodically, and has refused to buy anything from capcom since they cancelled Legends 3 (except Mega Man 9 and 10)

Point is, retro gaming is real.

Nah, they're pretty rough, but some people love clunky 3d platformers for some reason, particularly if you can customise your characters armor/weapons.

Nah, there's something undeniably charming about early-generation, "we have no idea what to do with this strange new technology" stuff. The bad voice acting and garbage camera control feels more sincere.

And I grew up with actual good video games so I don't think it's nostalgia.

Legends was cool for what it was at the time, an action-rpg/shooter hybrid with a big destructible city as a hub full of optional side quests and a bunch of weapon customization that let you fight through diungeons how you wanted. Considering that at the time it came out most 3rd-person shooters were still just being Tomb Raider clones it had a lot going for it.

It was also anime as gently caress though, right down to having a talking monkey as a sidekick and the recurring villains basically being Team Rocket.

Billy Butler: Fat Guy by Day, Doubles Machine by Night

Oh wow, this reminds me of something I read. I took a seminar on fetish theory and one of the books we read was Anne McClintock's Imperial Leather: Race, Gender, and Sexuality in the Colonial Contest. If you have an interest in commodity fetishism or colonial history or really anything I highly recommend it. Anyway, one of the chapters focuses heavily on soap advertising in the colonial era and the adverts' use of race as well as their erasure of women and their domestic labor. I have a couple poor photos that I might replace later when I go to the library to return some books.

TEXT: The consumption of soap is a measure of the wealth, civilization, health, and purity of the people"

So the racialization of soap and cleanliness is, obviously, not anything new. I am really shocked by how similar the Chinese ad is to that Pears soap ad. But I am not sure what is more interesting, that, or the Italian version of the ad.

Anyway, the chapter on soap is chapter 5. The whole book is fascinating though.

Edit: Obviously I realize the cultural context between the Pears soap ad and the Chinese detergent is not exactly the same, but the similarity in the ads I think is still really interesting.

It was many, many pages ago, but I have the Answer to the generic vs. name brand cereal argument. I worked at a Kelloggs plant for awhile. Yes, it is the same cereal. The difference is that the name brand stuff is produced and packaged in the same facility. Name brand corn flakes, frosted flakes and mini wheats are made and packaged in the same facility. It's processed and then packaged all in the same place.

The generic brands are exactly the same but instead of being packaged as Kelloggs brand stuff, the conveyor belt is diverted and it dumps the cereal into giant plastic lined boxes that are shipped away to other facilities where they are boxed into the generic store brands.

So, yes the store brand cereal is the same stuff. But it tastes different because it's been let to go a little stale in a giant bin. The name brand goes straight off the line and into the box very fresh.
