This happened back at SGDQ 2014. There was some popular Twitch stream called Show Video Games run by this goony rear end dude Sam and his wife Tolki. They're an ultra awkward 18 year old or whatever Mormon couple but I guess they had a following for some reason. They're friends with many of the huge Twitch speedrunners like Stivitybobo, the Banjo-Kazooie guy. Sam and Stivitybobo are especially close. Tolki and Sam become more and more popular and decide to go SGDQ 2014. They have a good nerdy rear end time but then there's reports that Tolki got super drunk and was really flirty with a bunch of dudes. This is particularly hilarious because Mormons generally don't drink and I'm sure she got utterly trashed. Later, it comes out that she cheated on Sam with Stivitybobo. Stivitybobo posts a confession (it may have been accidentally shared publicly and was meant to be private but I don't remember), which he awkwardly follows up to "defend" himself for banging Tolki. It just spirals from there with allegations of Sam and Tolki having endless marriage troubles, rumors that she cheated on him with countless people at SGDQ, divorce, Sam driving back to their home himself and leaving Tolki behind, etc. The rest is history and Sam/Tolki never stream again and fall off the face of our drat planet.

The best part is Stivitybobo had absolutely zero consequences for this and has been allowed back to all GDQ events ever since. Which is laughable because there's been minor incidents like BigJon flashing a NES Open cart for like 2 seconds during his Mario Lost Levels and getting banned from runs for life. Bans have also been handed out for some dude who punched a NES and multiple incidents of swearing on stream, but I guess getting your friend's wife drunk as hell and ruining his marriage is perfectly okay. Lol. Video games are great.

Late last year, it came out that Sam and Tolki never divorced and worked out their troubles after the infidelity, but that's much less funny.

AGDQ 2015 had this donation during Stivitybobo's Banjo-Kazooie run from someone pretending to be Sam: "Hey guys, lost my wife this past June. She loved Banjo-Kazooie speedruns, so here's some money for a great game, a great cause, and a great runner." While there is plenty of shady, terrible poo poo done by the GDQ staff and I really wish some of those insular asshats stepped down to improve the events, the overwhelmingly majority of the donations raised minus paying skilled staff goes to the charities. Charity contributions are transparently disclosed and are almost impossible to effectively mess with. We would see an exact financial breakdown if there was any funny business going on... and that has never happened. It's nothing but dumb nerds making poo poo up.
