DOS and Windows 3.1 was on our first family computer we got back in the early 90’s. It had a few games on it that rocked. One was this.... 2-d platformer where I was like a knight or a wizard? I remember it being very hard. I think all the shapes and characters were all just rainbow colored outlines. Everything else was black. This is more than twenty five years ago so my memory may not be very clear.

A video game that I swear was called find the Urkel, and it was just amazed where every turn it could show up randomly on any contiguous piece of a maze shape that was formed. Every turn you could select a piece to trap him and try to cage him between two squares. If you accidentally selected the square he was actually standing on, you would kill him, and that was how you failed the game. It would say, you killed the Urkel, and have little exes for his eyes. Otherwise he just looks like a little round dot. This is like a DOS game I think.

There's a story I remember only vaguely about a guy who discovers a colony of intelligent mice in his basement. They use tools and they're able to communicate. He helps them along with building stuff and they become a civilization. Initially he keeps it hidden from his wife, but one day he comes home to discover she's found them on her own and is completely enchanted with them, and it even kind of rekindles their relationship and they pretty much just grow old together and become the guardians of generations of mice. Somehow I got it firmly in my head that it's a goon post, but it may be a general internet story, or even one from an anthology. A while ago I posted in in all the "lost stuff" threads I could find and it rang a bell with a couple of people, but no one's managed to come up with so much as a title or author. other than that man I dunno, had a bunch over the years but eventually found them all, I guess I'm pretty good at tracking poo poo down

There was this animated short, very early CGI I think, about this guy's disembodied head flying around a room. He was singing in this over the top, operatic Italian (?) and the subtitles were really funny. I remember "Ah! I bounce and sing" and "send me my shoulders". Also I think there was something to do with a cow? It made a big impression on me as a kid but I haven't been able to find out anything about it since.

It took 20 years or so, but I finally hunted mine down not too long ago. I loved Voltron as a kid, so my new step-father decided to give me some other Japanese cartoons. Which is how I, at 6, ended up with nightmares of people being turned into puppets, those puppets becoming castle walls, and this screechy wizard thing. Unico in the Island of Magic. Less terrifying than Watership Down, more terrifying than The Secret of NIMH.

There is a movie I saw exactly one time. It was on TV (probably old 1980s HBO) and there was a scene with a guy inside like, a flower shop/green house kind of building(?) and he had crutches that had machine guns in them and he starts shooting up the place. Like, he doesn't disassemble them turn them into guns, he holding them under his arms and pointing them straight out and the guns shoot out of the bottom of the crutches. I know it is not "Day Of The Jackal" or "The Naked Man" with Michael Rapaport, but I know it exists. It's out there somewhere...

Actually found mine a few days ago! I saw this movie that I was sure was Dr. Seussian. And it was about Halloween. It used to scare the HELL out of me as a kid and my mom would put it on all the time to laugh at me as I hid behind the couch crying. (I love my mom). https://youtu.be/ygSEkwRCQPM Halloween is Grinch Night. No one ever believed me that it was real and frightening. I looked for it for nearly 30 years but all I could remember was one of the songs.

There was a music video on MuchMusic (Canadian version of MTV that was basically 100% music videos at the time but also had the CRTC-mandated CanCon rules) in the early-mid nineties. It was some alternative-rock band and the video was either in black and white or just extremely desaturated. The video featured the band in a garage playing their music, cut with the story of a kid on his bike. The kid is sad about things (that probably also happened in the music video??) and the one part that I remember is that he writes his name on the street with the tires of his bike. I *think* the band's drummer had the name "the acorns" or "the squirrels" or something like that on his drum-kit. I could never find the video through google and I'm not sure if I actually liked the song or not.

I've got a couple that keep I posting in these kinds of threads and no one can help me out it seems. One is one of those lovely flash videos you would've seen on ebaum or new grounds waaaaay back in the day that was (I think) a Japanese Pokemon song but the animations were that early internet random monkey cheese stuff. There's a few out there but the one I'm thinking of prominently featured a typewriter. I'll post the second one of anyone can figure out this one.

I'm always searching for various books and other miscellaneous crap, and have gotten pretty good at finding what I'm looking for, even if it takes me years to do so. That being said, sometimes things elude me no matter how hard I search. Here are three that I've posted about in other threads. I would appreciate any help, especially for the first one. 1) "It'sa" brand anything See below: Gutter Phoenix posted:In 1997 I stopped at a gas station somewhere near Santa Rosa, CA and the mini-mart was completely stocked with It'sa brand merchandise. Stuff like "It'sa Cola!" and "It'sa Sandwich!" Here is a candy wrapper I saved because it was so goddamn weird. Look at those loving quotes!! 2) Somebody Loves Me: The Story of a Beggar Boy by Jack Chick (1965) I've been collecting Chick tracts off & on for over 20 years. I have almost all of the 300+ Chick tracts, and close to 1,000 different variations of them. Nonetheless, there are some incredibly rare promotional tracts that I've never seen for sale in all my years of searching. And then there is this, which I have never even seen a picture of: (info from the 1966 catalog of copyright entries) Gutter Phoenix posted:Chick tract #5 - Somebody Loves Me (1965). 3) 1967 Spider-Man Theme Song 45 rpm 7" Gutter Phoenix posted:Not a book, but I figured I'd share it anyway. My friend's brother used to have a 45 rpm record with the theme from the 1967 Spider-Man cartoon, and I've been looking for a copy for almost 25 years. I can find no trace of it online, and would have thought it didn't even exist if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears back in high school. I don't actually know if this is the same record, and don't currently have a record player to listen to it so I don't even know if it's the classic theme song, but after searching unsuccessfully for a quarter century I figured I'd risk buying it anyway: That one turned out to be the wrong record, although the music is hilariously terrible, so it was a happy accident. I want to say that the one I'm remembering was one of those Peter Pan brand kiddie records, but I just don't know anymore.

A DOS game that was called "JEEP" on the family computer. It was like a 3/4 iso view (paperboy style), red(?) and black for colors, and you drove a jeep over mud and tree stumps and crap. The PC speaker engine noise was grungy as hell, can't remember much else about it though. I've searched google to no avail, checked out abandonware sites, just seems like this game doesn't exist online. Was likely something from a shareware floppy. I've been plagued by this since like 1994 when we got rid of that computer, and want to know who made it/what it was called so bad.

There’s this defunct noise band from the 90s called Five Starcle Men whose records are already almost impossible to find. The band itself is shrouded in mystery. All I really know about them is one member committed suicide. Their music isn’t for everyone, it’s mostly weird lo fi voice and found sound loops and might have something to do with aliens. Once in a while, something “new” from a forgotten tape still gets released digitally or on YouTube. What never comes up ever is the fact that they did a faux gangsta rap release that I think was originally a seven inch. Stupid rear end lyrics about weed and drive bys over hosed up cheap drum machine. One track has someone just repeating “I’m a muthafuckin gangstar, I’m down with the muthafuckin shankstar”. I had this on a cassette copy of a copy which I later transferred to mp3. It’s so dumb and impossibly rare and from a band that maybe ten people know about. An actual record may or may not even exist. It’s not on discogs.

A sci-fi book I read in middle school about a girl who graduates or is in some weird military school on Mars. There's some kind of war/terrorist attack and it's revealed that just about every Maritian elite is some kind of immortal cyborg obsessed with power and lacking in humanity. I think the main character is a cyborg but she doesn't know it until her evil dad tells her. I'm pretty sure he cuts off her arm too to prove it. There was some weird body horror stuff that popped up but I was into the discription of the tech and all domed cities on Mars. I've wanted to re-read it for a while but can't remember the title.

About 2005? Home Ec class in middle school...a VHS video about making bread, but it looked older and the original older sound was redubed with the catchy song: 'We're gonna make bread bread bread' I went so far as to track down the old teacher, since retired, and the librarian at the middle school at the time and they didn't remember the stupid video they put in to kill time during home ec class 15 years ago. Google and Duck have been no help over the years! To this day they still sing 'We're gonna make bread bread bread' song and has driven us crazy looking for the source of this crappy video seen in home ec class in middle school! TIA
