Weird thing about this sketch; I believe that if you look up the word "percumbent" (sp?), you'll pretty much just find this sketch or references to it.

The word does not exist, and yet we all know what it means. It's like embiggen or cromulent.

holy poo poo... I never caught that. it makes logical sense as a word, but it isn't one.

procumbent is, but it doesn't mean anything that would make sense here

Good thread OP. I am beyond excited for the new season. 'A Thousand Dollars' is also one of my all-time favourites, and I once pledged to a buddy that if either of us gets stinking rich, we're going to re-enact it in several bars.

The whole movie is on YouTube. I'm a die-hard KITH fan but criminally, I'd never seen it until a couple of years ago. Great movie. It's made with monkey cum.

Going through this thread wanting to :highfive: every single sketch and reference, suffice to say this show rarely missed. Like, barely ever. Surprised this favourite hasn't been posted yet though:

Yeah most of the Kids have had healthy careers since the show. Maybe the weirdest thing is seeing Scott as a forensic investigator on Hannibal.

Something I've always suspected is that the Toronto Eurodance group Love Inc. got their name from the 'A.T. & Love Inc.' corporation name the Kids always used in their sketches.

I grew up watching this show, it's cool now for the little interstitial black and white bits showing what downtown Toronto was like in the early 90's, it's amazing how grimy it was.

Also, the intro song is called Having an Average Weekend by Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet. One of the guitarist's side projects is or was a band called Ancient Chinese Secret, and they do surf guitar versions of old country songs. Dude I used to work with plays drums for Ancient Chinese Secret. That's my unconscionably tangential connection to the show.

Also I used to live across from where the steps from the Steps sketch was, but they were gone by the time I lived there. Still used to see Scott Thompson in the Village from time to time though which was cool.

oh gently caress this is the one I was trying to remember - I always want to reference this but nobody knows the skit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dxk67d0aLc

I always forget that this sketch and a few others featured a young Nicole DeBoer before she went on to play Dax in DS9.

The 'Dipping Areas' sketch is another absolute favourite of mine, because it used to make my Dad laugh so hard he'd wheeze. "All servers used to dress like that in the 80s and early 90s," he'd explain. I spread it around to all of my service industry friends. The funniest part is how calm and quiet they're all being in the kitchen. "Why don't we come in early tomorrow to discuss it?" always kills me.

This in particular has always been one of my favorites. Several men having a discussion about dipping areas for several minutes does not initially seem like a funny idea, and I don't think that I found this funny the first time I watched it. But now I consider it to be one of the funniest things that I've ever seen from any sketch group. There's just such a fantastic sincerity and earnestness to all of the characters here.

I don't know why I always thought he was 10-20 years older than the "kids" so I figured he was dead. Turns out he's the same age as the others and still kicking. Was in the ICU a couple years ago but pulled through. Def need some towel shots now.

Mmmm,
You smell like Lysol Wipes.
In 93 my band was on our first tour. We were high on the smell of out own farts (and everything else we could get our hands on) and lounging on an oversized couch in New Orleans after a show with our bass player in the middle when we channel surfed onto a late night re-run of this sketch. Those four minutes are in my top ten favorite memories. Maybe top 5.

Someone else mentioned it earlier but I had the exact same experience of going home during high school during my class breaks and KITH would be on Comedy Central.

I didn't really like it then but I watched a lot of it. Seeing these clips in this thread, I'm still not a fan. Probably less. Something always seemed.... off.... about it. I just didn't get the humor as much. The thing is, I like almost all of the actors. I really like Dave Foley and Scott Thomson.

I just watched a Whose Line sort of thing with a few of the members a few nights ago. It was an exclusive zoom thing for Wisconsin Dems. Greg Proops, Drew Carey, Ryan Stiles, Gary... something (he was on Whose Line), and Dave Foley for some reason but I was happy about that. They really hate Ron Johnson.
