Are you talking about the scene where everyone starts calling Sojiro "Boss" awkwardly, when before he'd be referred to as "chief"?

Overall I think this has to be the best dub job Atlus has put on for any of their games, in terms of voice acting and localization choices.

Honestly, if we're talking about which character most looks like they should have gotten the gun skills it would probably be Ms. Post-Apocalyptic Biker wielding a revolver and fanning it like she was straight out of a western. Though I suppose she's already working off her anger issues enough by punching bad guys in the face and then literally nuking them.

the one with gun skills should be ryuji because his persona's arm is a giant cannon, he's the one that introduces guns, and since guns are a new feature for this game it'd make sense for your first party member to specialize in them, to emphasize them. as opposed to how the game actually is, where guns are mostly useless for 80% of the game and then you randomly get rita repulsa to teach you how to carry more than a single clip and haru starts actually doing damage with them

It's weird how backloaded guns are. Shinya is like the second latest confidant in the game and until palace 5 the only gun-related skill you'll be seeing is snap. After that though they become incredibly good and more common, so it's not like they just didn't have any ideas for what to do with the new weapon type. Just a strange decision.

You need a huge amount of points between 3 and 4, presumably because of that plot lock. Course, it doesn't help that you only get 1/2 points with him at a time outside of the rank up events.

There's a massive amount of points or notes or whatever to get Sojiro from 3->4. Fortunately, this is the only major gap, and once you're past the plot lock subsequent levels go much faster.

For what it's worth, I did notice that in that gap before the plot lock is removed just hanging out with him gave only 2 notes but once I was past the lock it gave 3. I don't know if passing the lock was what changed that but either way I was able to just ignore him once he hit 3 for several months and catch right back up quickly.

You don't have go crazy for it right now, especially before you unlock strength rank 10. The amount of gold they drop when confused scales with your persona's luck so it's more worthwhile real time wise to do it more later on

anyway here's an effort post about the opening animes for this game and vanilla persona 4:

This game's op is very good but not as good as p4's i think. it's definitely a strong second in the series overall, but something the p4 op has that the p5 op lacks is consistent theming. we see the gang skating across the bridge and stuff, but what does that mean? all the fades to red/black are cool with how they incorporate the tricks of the camera, but it breaks in the yusuke sequence with it just doing a normal transition. heck, of the main party members, haru, futaba, and makoto don't even do anything and goro isn't even in it. it's a great sequence with a lot of energy and a clear spirit, but it lacks much meaning.

Compare to vanilla P4, which has the amazing camera sequence where you get a clear view of the cast, the game's themes, and how the cast interacts with that theme, all in a tight little package. The camera stuff is an obvious metaphor for both the TV world and the lens society views them through. Yosuke is initially excited, but quickly fumbles, establishing him as both the goof but also someone who thinks he gets it without actually getting it. Next is Kanji, looking powerful and confident but then rejecting the camera and outright destroying it, showing his gruff exterior is just a shell to hide his insecurities with how the people around him view him. Next we get Chie, caught in an awkward moment but quickly embracing it with a smile, demonstrating that she sometimes feels like she can't live up to what's expected of her but that she doesn't let it get her down. Then comes Yukiko - at first, she looks forlorn and quiet, but as the camera zooms further and further in we see her give a happy, if slightly awkward look towards the viewer. It's a pretty clear demonstration of what's expected of her (the demure innkeeper's daughter) and what you actually get when you get close to her (a goofy girl that's sometimes out of her element). Rise naturally embraces the camera wholeheartedly, and Naoto, in contrast, is completely frustrated, boxed in by the TV she's placed in and pounding her fist in frustration at her inability to get out. I shouldn't have to explain that one.

It's a strong sequence with great pacing that shows a total understanding of the game's themes and characters in a way that I don't think the P5 sequence manages.

helps that pursuing my true self is a great song.

Okay, so huge spoilers for 12/24 and I guess persona 4 if anyone cares about that and um, hmmmm...

Okay, so the baddie is the demiurge again who was proactive enough to jack the velvet room from Igor so he could steer the protag into being a piece in his game, a game that is exceedingly reminiscent of Izanami's right down to the bit where your opposite number is psychotic police detective and that they're rigging the whole thing to the answer they like.

He proceeds to then operate the Velvet Room exactly as usual, even ignoring the strength social link which seems like it was coming dangerously close to blowing the whole scheme early. When he decides to have you killed toward the end he decides to give you another chance because how impressive you looked while you stood around when the twins guillotined themselves back together and explained the plot point. Also the entirety of Tokyo if not Japan decided that the gang of thieves that jacked every TV in the nation a week or so ago were poo poo That Didn't Happen so hard it nearly wiped you from existence.

i def agree with a lot of this. a lot of the Persona 5 opening feels like nothing to me, outside of I like Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There more. Like you said, Haru and Makoto and really Futaba do nothing in it and Goro isn't even shown, and in that place is a lot of way too long shots. Ryuji and Yusuke's bits go on for nearly 15 seconds by themselves which doesn't sound like a lot, but that's time really wasted in essentially your 1:30 anime op. Ann's spinning, while cute, also needs a cut. Futaba's bit goes by like loving lightning in comparsion and the dancing in the rainy street really isn't meaty enough to be recurring energy. I do like the build up to them quickly jumping around rooftops and tracks tho

In contrast, I find P4's intro to be much tighter, sometimes going too fast. I like the bit of the calendar up top showing different scenes, and I always though the stack/mountain of old TV's to be much cooler imagery
