I just found out a couple of days ago that you can swipe over all of the letters in a word in one motion to enter a word instead of tapping the letters individually.

You can also swipe left from the delete key to delete words easily. iirc you need to turn a setting on for that to happen but it's a great way to delete the last sentence of cringe you were writing and start again.

Yeah I started using a swipe keyboard a decade ago and it feels bizarre using someone else's phone with it off. Can never get the delete swipe to work, though.

I was listening to the album 1000 Hurts by Shellac and during the opening intro, when the narrator is announcing the audio specs, it dawned on me that the reason the album is called 1000 Hurts is because it’s a play on 1000hz. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7fXwbFxenC0

The caps on my prescription medicine bottles have screw inserts and I never understood why until just now when I was idly fiddling with one and screwed the cap upside down into the bottle. They're for people who don't have the strength to push and turn, you can just seal it up by screwing it in instead.

My mom showed me that trick years ago, and I think it's one of those little things that are just really nice for people who can't push the little thing to open them every time. Though, now that I think of it, I wonder if a pharmacy will dispense it to you that way. I work at a pharmacy, I should ask about that when I get the chance.

It was a huge revelation, especially since I learned about it while sitting in the specialized burn unit at the hospital after pouring fresh bacon grease all over my thumb. The friend who drove me there saw me struggling to type one thumbed and told me about what was then a separate keyboard you had to download.

For an embarrassingly long time I was confused why the 16x9 and 4x3 aspect ratios weren't identical. My brain kept squaring both 4 and 3 to come up with 16 and 9 and deciding that that meant that they were the same. Any other ratio in my life I've known to multiply by the same number, but for some reason that math fallacy stuck in my brain for like a decade. Maybe because it's the only commonly used terms where two numbers and their squares are both paired up.

I was already pretty firmly against spending anymore time with this guy because he was a racist fascist, but then I saw the tabs and thought oh no this man is insane

You know what, I get it. The tabs on my phone don't close automatically when I close the browser app, and it's kind of hidden away how many tabs you have open, so periodically, when I remember, I find myself having to close dozens of them. By 'elderly' standards that's not too bad. My grandmother has never even owned anything that was connected to the Internet, but to be fair she was born in the 1920's. The S. in Ulysses S. Grant doesn’t stand for anything, but arose from a clerical error when he was enrolled at West Point. “Simpson” was in no way his middle name, just his mother’s maiden name.
