I have nothing but love for these. I almost picked one up before I got my CVPI but holy poo poo it was leaking oil like a sieve, smoked up a storm, and it made horrendous noises if you so much as looked at it funny. Didn't have the time or inclination to chase down all the issues so I had to pass on it :(

Thanks dude, it certainly is. ~57,000 miles on it. Not too bad for a 10 year old but it definitely isn't the 12,000 z that I also looked at.

For the most part, yes. The wheels are aftermarket and the PO put in a custom stereo (and did a terrible job at that). Besides that, all is stock.

Thanks! 90's sport sedans represent. They are getting pretty old now, but like you said, nothing newer seems to have quite the character.. I have no idea what to replace mine with when the time comes. I'm a huge fan of S60R/V70R's too though - if you're looking at getting one it might be worth knowing that they received a suspension revision halfway through their lifecycle (although I'm not completely sure which year, sorry) that apparently improved the ride quite significantly. I've always wanted to try out their funky looking 6-speed ball shifter thingy.

I'm diggin' your SHO. We never got them on this side of the world :(

Speed? Performance?

Pfft.

We just picked this up a couple days ago. 2005 xB, 116k miles, manual transmission, almost spotless. One previous owner, came up from Georgia a couple years ago so it's pretty clean underneath (We live in Pennsylvania, clearly) but it does have some ridiculous factory options, one of which was highlighted in the second photo. Yes, that was to get the Scion logo near-level, not to be 'cool'

Not seen are the blue LED foot well illuminations or the multi-color selectable cupholder illuminations. Someone actually spent ~$500 for these in 2005 (unless, like us, they used them in their bargaining as to why the car is going to sit on the lot a lot longer than they like and why they should take our offer)

KBB places it at around $8200, after sitting on their lot a month they dropped it to $6990, and they took our offer of $6490... with surprisingly/alarmingly little hesitation. It was a trade-in on a new car so I'm sure they made a hefty profit on it even at what we paid.

A great part about it, too, is the Forester it's replacing only had liability and comprehensive, but adding on collision to this one was only $2 a month more. Parts for this are so cheap by comparison it'd make your head spin. $3-400 for a rear bumper for the Forester? $100 for the xB. I don't WANT us to have any car damage issues, but if it's going to happen, it'll hurt a lot less with this.

I didn't like it at all from photos, but once I saw it in person and rode in it I was sold.

you actually have to do some custom bodywork (read: sledgehammer the gently caress out of the firewall) to fit a 4.0, but people drop in chevy 3.1s and 3.4s all the time (with or without EFI) and get some performance improvement.

And yeah, 2.8s are good for one thing. Spinning rod bearings. Wait, two things, they are good for spinning main bearings and rod bearings. Err, they are good at wrecking cams and cam bearings too I guess... 3 things... I'll come in again.

The 60 V6 was never a good truck motor. The torque was all misplaced and well, they just sucked at life. But using a sledge to modify the firewall was so worth it to get a real motor.

My baby: 1984 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. I've had this car for 6 years now. It is currently about 95% done with an LS1/T56 swap, I can't wait to get it back on the road. Before this it had a built 350 with MegaSquirt and a T5 manual.

My newest vehicle: 1985 Chevy C10 Silverado. My dad owned this for 8 years and I recently convinced him to sell it to me. It has a mild carb'ed 350/TH350 for now, but one day a 5.3/4L60E combo might find it's way into the bay.

Oh yeah, also some Subarus. 98 Outback and 99 Legacy. One of them will be sold when I get the Camaro running again. The white one used to be my driver before I got the truck.

Loving my ST2 though. I haven't noticed any loss of power when giving it gas in the corners. I just wish this thing got better gas mileage, but that's expected with my lead foot :D.

Typical SHO presentation. Lucky for me, mine was owned by an SHO enthusiast so he did a fair amount of work himself. Still didn't stop it from having all sorts of other wonky rear end issues. Your CVPI will be much more reliable, I'm sure of it.

I would buy a V70R in a heartbeat, as long as it had the manual tranmission. They seem pretty rare, though. :( Yeah, I read they removed an unnecessary torque limiter in 1st/2nd after '06. Sounds like a later model is the way to go. Thanks for the compliment :)

Pretty sure the V70R was auto-only in the states. A good friend had one and drove it as a winter car, it was pretty fun but he gave up on it after 130k miles.

Yeah, just moved here this summer with my fiancee (moved for her job) and bought the car so I'd have something to do while I looked for work. It hasn't disappointed. If you troubleshoot electrical problems (I took the carbs out, rebuilt the bypass valves, put them back in and the starter won't engage now- has to be electrical) there's payment in beer.
