I'm not really a death vocals guy so the singer puts me off but the rest kicks so much rear end. Metallum says the drummer is only 15. Unreal.

I assumed the schedule would be Noisem - Gorguts - TBDM - Carcass. If TBDM are second, like you say, I may arrive a couple hours late.

Or there's the actual murderer that the band is referencing.

Fun fact: their guitarist went to my high school and once rollerbladed through a window.

Epic fantasy based metal? That's basically called "Power metal". If you want growling though these bands will not scratch that itch.

Oh god no. If you go into straight Dragon Slaying, you're going into power metal territory. Amon Amarth is sort of an outlier, because they do fantasy material but with growling. If I know anything about your tastes, power metal is going to lack aggression and you'll be bored with it. If you like Amon Amarth check out other melo-death bands. At the Gates, Soilwork, Carcass, The Haunted, etc.

Also, get an album called "Those Once Loyal" by Bolt Thrower. Not the same genre but I think you will like it.

It is more Norse mythology(and that only as a vehicle. Not really based around it) and less dragons, but if I may, could I suggest Manowar?

No hyphens, just undiluted, uncompromised metal.

Well there's Bal Sagoth. I'm not really familiar with them myself, but they're supposedly a pretty quintessential "Fuckoff bombastic fantasy metal" band without being all flowery.

Apart from that, I dunno which is more important here, the big epic sound or the fantasy themes, so I'm a bit unsure what to say.

Gamma Nerd already mentioned Ensiferum (man that video is so delightfully dorky :allears:), they're really into that whole "Swords and battles woohoo" thing and I find them really enjoyable at least.

I also want to take this opportunity to again pimp Grand Magus. They're not melodeath or anything, and apart from the viking themes aren't really fantasy-inspired either, but they certainly SOUND :black101: as hell to me. (click the smiley)

Humour option: GloryHammer :v:

They'll get you into a more "I want to slay some Panzers" mood but Sabaton does fun historical-themed metal. Falconer is a good power metal band that it isn't too flamboyant. Usually.

Nordheim is some rad epic fantasy death folk metal about dragons and trolls and beer that just might fit that bill

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1AVfsVbVs8s this song is literally about killing dragons

Fearless warrior loving kills the mass
For glory and fame
Humping girls, saving realms

He'll destroy the evil, dwelling in his cave
Drunk and brave
gently caress him up, get his scales

searching for soulblood hidden in the dragon's heart
i will kill him until he dies
i will kill him and so his child

he went to that cave to slay the mighty dragonlord
with blood and sweat he paid his place on the throne

now he reigns, he's got many slaves
and he'll drink ale until the end of his days

Their sound is really crazy - it's a step beyond the Timeghoul/Demilich comparisons they get thrown. I'd like to know of other modern death metal bands doing stuff like them, or which nail the hopeless, cosmic atmosphere they do.
