Is caffeinated dip a thing? I have a feeling it'd sell very well to army people. Same for energy cigarettes.

A guy who was in the NM OCS program swore by the "ranger dip" of taking the coffee packet from the MRE and pocketing it a la a regular pinch of dip. Could be a good idea in said situations where you can't get a cup of coffee or other form of caffeine but seems more of a novelty than anything IMHO

Well cold brew is the new thing so if you left it in for awhile you should get some effect.

Just fuckin' rip the coffee open, throw it in your mouth, get a swig of water, throw it back and call it done

It was a new big thing when I was in Iraq. Nothing like dehydrating twice as fast especially with dip 2 weeks before expiry.

Honestly surprised this poo poo isn't more common on bases, then. What with how most soldiers chain drink energy drinks and consume any form of tobacco.

I really miss the commissary, that's about it. You could feel marginally better about yourself just looking at what dependants from other backwaters look like.

Really not sad about that part. I guess I just want a people of Walmart site, but for the commissary.

GENDERED SLUR posted:zopiclone is very similar and doesn't cause the hosed up amnesia and sleep driving. It depends. My partner was on it and developed a very serious addiction to the drug. Kicked it eventually, but still has serious cravings and at worst she was popping 2-3 pills every single night. It also absolutely causes amnesia, though not to ambien's degree. She rarely if ever remembered anything that happened after she took it, which profoundly disturbed her. Killed her PTSD nightmares dead in no time though, so there is that. If you take it once in awhile it's probably fine, but it's a pretty dangerous drug if you don't treat it carefully.

GENDERED SLUR posted:. melatonin and l-theanine are a good go-to otherwise. Melatonin is probably the least favorite thing I've ever taken. I know it's supposed to send the "you're tired and need to sleep" signal to your brain, and 2.5 mg of it sure as hell worked great at that, but I still had insomnia and couldn't actually sleep. But now I was tired enough for the insomnia to feel about 100x worse. Felt awful.

I've always had good luck with melatonin, not with falling asleep, but more with staying asleep. I don't get drowsy from it, but once I'm sleeping, I zonk right out. If I have to wake up to piss, I don't go back to bed and stare at the ceiling and glance over at the clock every 15 minutes until 5am, I just fall asleep again.

That's super weird, I've heard of people having weird responses to melatonin but I'm not sure how that actually works since it's produced naturally in the body. Sometimes weird poo poo just happens. It's much better at regulating your circadian rhythm than truly knocking you out though. That's what the heavier stuff is for.
