I've had some time for reflection and I feel we're being too rough on Dems. It's actually hard to win seats when you're being paid to not give a poo poo about people.

It will be hilarious when 2018 rolls around and the democratic party has no message possible because the leadership was banking almost entirely on stopping Trumpcare and it died in the senate.

Raskolnikov38 posted:lol they're going to focus entirely on russia Russia and Iran is what I fear mainly because with the Daesh war drawing down this is going to be a signal for the hungry, hungry washington establishment for yet another bloodbath and there's already a resolution on the table. The dems are probably not insane enough to strike directly at Russia (even with lunatics like Panetta and Clark), but they are absolutely not going to bat an eyelid at killing a few million Iranians just to show them.

https://twitter.com/daveweigel/status/887129269687734273 What you have to understand that privately many D's rather "blame GOP" ahead of 2016, rather than shoulder burden of governing. Their polling says they can win by leashing GOP to Trump. Wishful thinking? At the very least the House will see a lot more Dems probably.

Late to the debate, but chiming in on the spicy take of "bosses = tyrants"... yeah, that's exactly what they are. The folks at the top give your boss a little slice o the cheddar to keep the workers' dirty slimy hands off the money that the workers are busy making for the capitalist at the top. For the courtesy of whippi- er, micromanaging the employees, management is rewarded with a salary and annual bonus. Sometimes managers get a monthly or quarterly bonus if the worke- er, business does a good job.* Just because it's an obvious and terse comparison doesn't make it as puerile as a 7-y/o saying "I hate my parents telling me what to do!" We've figured out how to keep a certain amount of tyranny/aristocracy out of the federal and state government, but we continue to subject ourselves to it for 40+ hrs/wk. Our daily lives are subject to a top-down hierarchy where the jobs we do are on the terms of someone else, someone up. As such, it shouldn't be much of a wonder why corporations and business lobbying groups hold the reins of the government decision-makers. Our democracy is a farce because we are habitual vassals -- we've supplanted land with private property. *I waited tables for a while at a restaurant chain where we got secret shoppers. If the restaurant got good marks on the secret shopper report, i.e., when the employees did a good job, managers received a bonus. What did the employees who did a good job receive? The opportunity to write their own schedule for 1 month. That "reward" was what management gave us. Corporate gave us zilch. We got to choose how much and when we wanted to work. If we didn't get that score, you better believe management was pissed at us, because they didn't get their bonus. This is one of the better restaurant corporations. P.S. lol, just lol if you're a socialist and don't listen to the monthly sermons of Rev. Richard D. Wolff on Democracy @ Work. Subjunctivitis has issued a correction as of 03:53 on Jul 18, 2017 |
